I think it’s closer than Lions fans expect. Sea is a better team than they showed VS the Rams. In fact I think the Rams are a much better team than most realize.
Sea poses some problems for the Lions and in some ways will be a bigger challenge for our defense. They have a better run game than KC and they utilize more complex running schemes.
I think they have the WR’s to really put some pressure on our secondary. Whom in my opinion are still having some struggles.
The Lions front 4 should have fun against that Sea OL but the Sea DL can give the Lions OL some issues. Especially off the edge.
Sea defense is very susceptible to putting up run yards outside the tackles and the Rams exploited that secondary that is loaded with talent.
If you really look at Sea’s roster you’ll notice they have a lot of talent.
But the Lions should win the trenches and are a grittier team. The Fans will be loud and DET should be able to pull this one out by pressuring Geno into mistakes.
Shame about Decker, but the Seahawks have it much worse on their oline with their starting LT and RT missing the game.
This is a bit of a prove-it game, it’s all very well winning at Arrowhead but it doesn’t mean much if we don’t take care of business in home games like this. And I think we will.
31-17 Lions, and the hype train will well and truly be leaving the station.
I believe the Lions are still jelling, and will even be better than they were in KC. I do believe Decker being out will cause some rotational problems for our JG.
But Detroit will show they are the better team.
Sea struggles to cover over the middle and Laporta should excel. Hockenson put up 170 against them last year. However they do have their rookie SCB starting who may improve them in that category.
I think Gibbs is primed to have a big game. Sea gives up big gains on the outside because they’re not so great at containing and they play a lot of soft zone. If Gibbs and his speed gets outside the edge defender he will have a big gain and could even take it to the house.
So if I hypothetically had to make a 2 and a half hour drive from Huntsville to Tuscaloosa tommorow and wanted to listen to game preview stuff before I get back…what would be good to listen to? Are there radio pregame broadcasts that start 3 hours before gametime? Podcasts? Something to that effect?
Costa and Rico cover the pre-game (tailgate show as they call it) from 10-12. You can listen on the audacy app. Then Lions coverage starts at noon. Not sure who does that. Miller maybe from the booth.
My scant memories of Mitchell last year was of him blocking for a beat or two then slipping out, getting open and catching everything that was thrown his way. Sounds like a fit, especially if Nelson subs for Decker.
