I have a lot of fun poking at OSU/R Day which will always continue but tbh it’s mainly directed at the OSU fans and their delusions, seen here at times as well.
Their coach is 48-5 as OSU coach in the Big Ten.
1-4 against UM, 47-1 against the rest.
Overall he is 66-10
His reward, hire private security to protect his family against… OSU fans
Just embarrassing to be a part of this fanbase right now
While I will always enjoy watching the program play top quality football, living with thier fanbase has soured me, and I can’t help but root for them to lose just to stick it to these insane weirdos.
I’m with you. I had to move down to Columbus for work about eight years ago and these are very entitled fans. The last game against Michigan might’ve been my favorite of all. They were so confident they were going to wipe the field with us. Had to be the worst feeling they’ve ever had and I was smack dab in the middle of it.
Yep, UM had no business winning that game and it definitely made it better after a year of them talking smack about what was coming.
Harbaugh definitely got into their heads from the coach to the players and Moore kept it going.
We are passionate:)
I get what you are saying, having been born in Ohio with plenty of Ohio relatives. However, Ohio State fans had every reason to expect a victory vs Michigan. It should have happened and Ryan Day did not have them ready to play. I don’t think its weird that Ohio State fans were livid. Although having to get security is sad.
Absolutely. Michigan had zero business not getting destroyed. Ryan Day, for some strange reason, decided to run straight at our two future first round defensive tackles, rather than exploit our weakened secondary. Made zero sense. But also made it so much more enjoyable that OSU did it to themselves.
Allright, I will say it. I know a lot of us love to hate on OSU, me especially, but this isn’t an OSU fanbase problem. It’s a fan problem. We all love the Lions universally, but let’s not forget it was only a few months ago that the most beloved and successful Lions coach we’ve had in our lifetime, Dan Campbell, was forced to move because someone gave out his address and Dan had fans stopping by and causing problems after we lost the NFC Championship game.
Idiots are always going to be idiots, no matter what team or state they come from. I think it’s pathetic that we have people who live in fear at home because of what happens at their workplace.
Thats fair, the article discusses the lunatic fringe at OSU which, as you point out goes beyond just OSU.
Although some fringes are worse than others.
They for sure are. I am all about trolling OSU (and taking medicine when it’s time), I just have a real problem when someone feels the need to hire security just to live at home because fans can’t leave football outside of someone’s personal life. I know why it happens, I just hate when it does. Home is always one of the places you should feel safe to be at.
I’m with you. I always pulled for the Big Ten in bowl games/playoffs, but I can’t with Ohio State any more. It has nothing to do with Day and everything to do with a good chunk of their fan base. It’s just so over the top. The past few years have been ridiculous.
I agree with you to a point, but I also disagree. I think OSU is unique. Jim Harbaugh lost a lot to Ohio State, and while Michigan fans did their usual “the sky is falling” routine, no one threatened the guy with violence. He regularly went around town and was around people constantly.
I was more thinking about RichRod than Harbaugh. I don’t think RR ever had deaththreats or needed private security. Although his greatest threat came from within Schembechler Hall
Just goes to show that buckeyes are nuts.
The issue I get when discussing Ryan Day or even UM football to a lesser extent is this.
Those 2 squads (OSU more than UM) have much better talent and more of it than usually 9-11 of its 12 opponents during the season that have 8-9 wins baked right into the season. They only play 2-3 real games a season.
OSU has 10 wins each season just by showing up.
So for me you really need to judge those 2 programs on how they did in about 3ish games a year. So does Day really get a ton of credit?
So while I agree he has a great record. Most of those wins are against teams that must play their best game of the season and then hope OSU plays a B or C level game to win or even make it close.
So you can judge Day one these games:
UM
PSU (to some extent)
Any other top 10 opponent they face
What is his record in those game? That is the true test and discussion.
Oh on the subject of him needing protection. That is insane. And they should pull no punches or resources tracking down and arresting the source of the threats. And then do their best to make examples with stupid harsh penalties.
I think both uofm and osu fans are a cult. Its really strange, how uofm fans keep posting about osu. I wish both programs would actually just die all ready. Btw cry me river if it hurt your feeling’s. Its pathetic on both sides
Is anyone going to tell him?
It’s called a rivalry, biggest one in cfb.
