Oline pressure allowed/TTP chart

Came across this interesting chart. And kind of explains the dichotomy of our Oline. Which by all perception is top five in the league. But still seems like Goff has someone in his grill often.

If I’m reading this right we don’t give up pressure often. But when we do it’s immediate. When the kids do get beat they get spanked.

Top ten in overall pressure allowed. But bottom ten on how fast they are beat when beat

So 60% of time our line works every time.

Seriously though interesting find. Basically when we lose a rep, we are destroyed. No slowing down, just horrifically beaten.

Interesting that the Vikings (Dobbs) and Pack (Love) are in the best quadrant to be in.

Major respect to Purdy. He’s in about the least enviable situation in the league by this measure.

Kid deserves more respect than many want to give him.

It would be nice if someone filled out the quadrants like this guy did every time one of these is posted.

I think having a mobile QB helps if I’m looking at this correctly. Mahomes, fields, Jackson and hurts all in the upper left quadrant.

Maybe I am wrong, but in my eyes, that suggests the Lions have systemic breakdowns. One thing I know, teams are running a lot of stunts against us. I would really like to see this breakdown per game. I know Green Bay was exploiting Sorsdal, but also it looks like they put Gary on Decker, and Gary worked him. I know Gary is good player, but I also still wonder how right Decker’s ankle is.

Aside from the schematic failures I think we have (which every team has exploitable weaknesses), one thing that is concerning me is I think some of the Lions issue is they are not handling success well. The first game they lost was Seattle, and that was after beating the Chiefs. Remember, Seattle was missing their two tackles, and this should’ve been an easy game for us. Seattle punched us in the face.

Lions then are playing the Ravens, and at 5-1 everyone is talking Lions. Lions take a total beatdown. Lions then win the Raiders game, and get a bye. Coming out of the bye, their defense folds completely but they win on offense. Then the Bears game shows up, and they are lucky to escape. Ok, Bears game was a trap game, and the Lions were hyped looking forward to Green Bay on Thanksgiving. Nope, the Lions never even showed up. First play of the game, they got exploited and again for anyone wanting to talk turnovers, that game was 14-7 before any turnovers happen.

Green Bay’s defense, which has been so bad that everyone in Green Bay hates Joe Barry (been there), just whipped us. Every snap, Goff had people in his face. The whole offensive line was destroyed.

I seriously hope the coaches have spent the past 10 days looking at what teams are doing to us and working on fixing it. My fear is that Dan is letting these guys get too full of themselves, and his constant excuse making for the defense is hiding the real fatal flaw on this team. His BFF can’t coach a defense worth a damn, teams are exploiting it.

I’d love to see this broken down by game. I imagine it’s Sorsdal and Awosika games in which those quick pressures are occurring.

The upper left quadrant can also be looked at as QBs who turn non pressure plays into pressure with their playing style. It makes sense that Green Bay is an outlier. Despite a lack of talent, injuries AND a young QB…their ability to hold and get away with it is a huge difference maker.
