The offense has provided some reason for optimism, but at the end of the day, you can’t make Tyler Shough look like Dan Marino in his prime either.
That said, the Jets at home may be the tonic which cures this team’s defense for at least one week.
I hope you’re right but Geno Smith hasn’t ‘written back yet’. And he’s passed all over FF the last two times he’s been here. I know it was with SEA and a different offensive skill group, but just sayin’.
Not giving up on this team. Yes, last night SUCKED. Got outplayed, outcoached, etc by a better team. On top of that, they were flying high with the opening of the new stadium, dont think any team coulda beaten them. Bad games happen, this was one, especially on D.
But if you look at our schedule, there is no reason not to win 3 of next 3, or 2 of 3 minimum. Then bye week. Hopefully by then, Branch and Joseph back. And will have to sign or trade for a CB or two. It’s time to trade for Porter IMO.
Now, if we lose 2 or 3 of next three, time to prepare for '27.

Offensively I do think we will get better as the season progresses. Get Miller back next week. Mays back probably after the bye week. Gotta get Jamo going asap.
Shep needs to find a way to make the defense mediocre, doesn’t need to be good. But right now it’s pathetic. Needing to score 40 points to win is just not sustainable.
If the defense can just get 20th in the NFL instead of 2008 Lions we run away with the division.

Goffs numbers (and results) have been elite for 4 years now. Hes a great qb…..the best I’ve seen in a Lions uniform and I’m 61.
Some of those throws last night were beyond belief and it wasn’t against a prevent defense
I’m not certain that’s good enough to beat the Bears this year.
The Bears defense is just as bad as ours and I’m not sure their offense will be better once the oline is together
Not saying goff sucks. Im saying is numbers are going to good because they were down 21. Of course is numbers will be good.
