They are everything we’ve ever dreamed about. Nice breakdown by Martz. Exciting time to be a Lion’s fan.
I don’t think Fraley would be promoted to OC after Ben left, but I could definitely see him getting an Assistant HC title to keep him from getting hired away. I wonder how many of those we can have. Is there a limit?
Fraley doing a great job. We also have some serious studs on the Oline. 3 of them were 1st round picks.
Good stuff!
I can’t believe how big Sewell is. The man is an absolute giant and moves like a freaking ballerina. Like a dancing bear out there. LFG!
Thankfully even the best OLine coaches in rarely get OC or HC opportunities. I hope he is coaching this OLine for a very long time as he has routinely dealt with ridiculous amounts of injuries and somehow gets these guys to step up week after week.
Maybe a little messed up, but I feel like being our OLine coach is similar to being Barry Sanders RB coach.
Good job to have.
Fraley must be doing something right. We’ve had enough backups come in and perform well that he definitely deserves some credit. The backups haven’t been excellent mind you, but in the dark times having a backup o-line player come in would guarantee three sacks and four penalties.
Listen to any of Fraley’s pressers and you know he’s legit. Not surprised he has done this well since Brad and Co got here (they promoted him to OL coach when they first arrived).
Love that our guys are so athletic. Love that we can run multiple blocking schemes. Love that we have power and speed out of the backfield to take full advantage of it. Love that Jamo seems to be coming along. Love that our offense is really good and not close to what it is truly capable of. Laporta will get better, Jamo will get better, DPG is an upgrade over Marvin (I loved Marvin), Gibbs will get better. David Montgomery does not even have a full year in this offense. We are only half way up the hill!
The dancing bear is gonna maul some tiny and weak Bears this weekend.
Actually I think Quinntricia had promoted him to OL coach the year before Dan and Brad arrived. But they wisely kept him.
I am starting to think next draft might be time to grab a stud center who can play guard in rd 1 or 2. Ragnow might retire early in a yr or so and glasgow can hold one of the other guard spots down. Would be nice to have the center of the future next to rags
I’m all in on this idea
You are correct. When I looked up Fraley and it said promoted in January 2020, my years were mixed up. I didn’t bother to check and that’s on me. Good catch, sir.
I really enjoy the comments from Martz. He is one of the great offensive minds of my time. He has such great knowledge of each players responsibility on each play. His breakdowns are so advanced from anyone since they gave John Madden a telestrater.
How awesome is it to see videos analyzing how well the Lions are playing?
One of the first things I was impressed with when DC took over is that the pre-snap penalties seemed to drop off significantly.
Then we started to see the O line execute at a high level with multiple blocking schemes… and it really got interesting.
It’s very easy to see how significant it is to have to have multiple athletic studs on the O line that can execute any scheme that we want to run.
