We , if fans have no clue then why last year did fans say the interior oline would be a issue and you others and Brad said same shit, were good, and it was fans with no clue that was right, and I’m willing to bet just about anything this secondary will give us problems all year and prevent us from being the team we could have. Let’s see at the end of the year who has a clue.
I think he went a little far on that statement personally. But regarding the defensive coordinator statement, I’d like anyone to show me the last time a team (in the last 10 years) won the Super Bowl with a defense rated lower than 16th in terms of points allowed per game. In fact, only the Chiefs and Rams were outside the Top 10.
There is time to improve of course, but as it stands right now, our defense appears unable to stop a wet fart.
I think this is the mistake this team has made. Shep sucks and they gave him another shot. I don’t have an issue with what they did player personnel wise. I prefer to roll over the extra 30 million. Scheme is the reason this defense sucks not personnel.
Nobody is perfect. BH has done a phenomenal job building and maintaining the talent on this team. Extremely unfortunate that he lost an all-pro OC to retirement at 29. And also extremely unfortunate to lose the best safety duo in the league to major injury at 25.

Exactly our roster is far to good , to go in to a season with this secondary" The dollar tree secondary" Brad built and swore by all offseason. Every guy you just mentioned were draft pics, thar is exactly what I said drafts great but hasn’t been able to use FA well at all to get us over the hump. Having hit some good pics does not cancel out putting a secondary like this on a championship type roster. Thanks for proving my point. You do notice you didn’t list 1 FA signing ?
Personnel isn’t the problem. Shep is…if we have a good DC this is an average defense at worst. I mean what did you want him to do? Buy 3 different starters? We don’t have the money. One guy isn’t moving the needle enough. But a good coach would.
Do you watch games ? Because # 23 starting has been the biggest issue and the rest of them DBs isn’t far behind we have 2 decent starters , the rest is hopes and dreams.

We wanted him to get an end opposite Hutch. We signed Wonnum and used our 2nd rounder on Derrick Moore.

Rock has been bad. The safeties are not very good stopgaps. I just don’t see what else they could’ve done. Resources have dried up due to paying all the studs we’ve drafted. Only so much you can do with limited money and limited high end picks.

And when you have a roster as loaded as this Yes , 100% do expect him to finish the roster and fix these issue. That the difference in winning a superbowl or getting bounced.

What did they do that “won them the offseason?” Please explain…
Look at who they drafted and who they signed and who they hired and look at the impact those players and coaches made
It should be pretty obvious.
And yes, these are retrospective views. The Rams did it in ‘21. Tampa Bay in ‘20. Nearly every team without a GOAT QB needs to have offseasons like this to put themselves in the championship conversation. It doesn’t mean the team will win, but not doing it is a huge handicap
Draft doesn’t matter…we took our two biggest needs in the draft this past offseason 1st & 2nd round.
if you are going to make the claim, prove it. I’m not going to look it up for you. They didn’t “win the offseason.”
If you want to count teams adding top 5 NFL QBs as winning the offseason in regards to the Bucs and Rams so be it. But the others don’t even come close to applying to “winning the offseason.”
You are basically crowning the team that wins the SB for that year as winning that offseason. Because neither Philly or Seattle went out and signed a bunch of FAs to win the offseason lol.
You can get away with that on maybe one position in a secondary, but not more then half the secondary. This is were we differr , you think Brad put this secondary on the field because he had no options, I think and believe Brad really believed in his heart this would work out. I think with the roster we have it’s a big ball drop not to put more effort in that position. I think this roster is so close to being that Superbowl roster and his evaluation on some positions have held us back.
I agree with this for the most part. I will argue, however, that he erred big time in assuming 1.) Joseph will be back anytime soon and be his old self and 2.) Branch will return this year to pre-injury form. I know resources are limited and don’t expect 2 big signings in the secondary. But assuming both will return and be back to their old selves is a large leap to say the least. I’m not a Holmes hater by any means, but the consistent trading of good draft capital to get his ‘guys’ is a bit over the top in my opinion. And the 2024 draft is absolutely killing us right now.
