Dude is sitting on 30 million and went to the dollar tree for his secondary. Everyone knew Kirby may not play and Branch would be a while, Arnold was a little unexpected but we had plenty of time and money to do better. This secondary is what Brad liked and believes in .
You want to critique and backseat drive every move without full scope of the situation fine, but I personally think it’s a waste of energy. Yes, he has cleared up space. We still have to sign Laporta and branch. Maybe he will swing a trade at a point later in.
I’ve already stated what he had to do with the limited resources at his disposal. Offensive line, defensive line and then secondary. He had to protect Goff so Mayes and Miller in the first were a must. He had to get defensive line help so wonnum and Derrick Moore in the second were a must. You might not like the people he brought in but they are all good signings. There is 0 complaint after the signings about the pieces they brought in from the media. They were considered solid depth pieces. Arnold was our 1A. Reed is a very good 2B. Arnold lied to the lions and the truth came out when he was cut. This was a meh free agency, they weren’t gonna chase a big name corner. They have to feed their own stars.
I’m not sure what you or anyone expected. The secondary was always going to be interesting this year. Always.
Even when the problems are obvious to fans he seems to not see them. It’s bizarre.

Lol, the real problem is fans get to see about 10% of the big picture when it comes to actual team strategy, structure, salary cap, etc., but they think they have 100% of all the knowledge required to run an NFL team. True hubris in virtually every case.

I think it more odd some really believe this is the best brad could do, your missing the whole point, and that is if Brad really believed this was a good group, then we are never going to see a super bowl and and them Ben Johnson years are best were going to ever do. I know you Love Brad and Dan. But that twice Brads like his guys and his guys turned out to be a disaster and he bet the whole season on that view . This secondary issue is not going to get any better this year, this is another through away year, I know you and others will be ok with a 9 win season missing the playoffs or a one and done. Saying another winning season for Brad. And even bigger problem is if all of see it why doesn’t Brad ? Some of you will use them is last place scheduled as a improvement the fact is if we only win 9 games this year the truth is we got worse, but guarantee there will be some quoting that winning season.
This right here has been said with every hire, just before the rest jump ship.

I’m not doing that I’m pointing out what was obvious twice he liked his guys and stood pat on that position and 1 year had 20 million and the next 30 million he stood pat because he really thought he was good, them are huge misses in evaluations , and I may not know what he did do but I Damm sure know what he didn’t do.

Who is we?? What is your role on the team?? The point that has been made is that fans think they have 100 percent knowledge off the daily nuances of running g a sports team….which fans have absolutely no friggin clue.

I don’t need to know the ins and the outs of running a franchise to know what traits successful franchises have and that we lack. That isn’t me running around with a torch and a pitchfork. It is me being disappointed that we are wasting the best championship window of my lifetime
If you don’t have to know then how are you or any other fan qualified to tell the people who run the team how to run the team?? That’s funny that you claim you don’t need to know but at the same time tell them what’s wrong and how to fix it…

Hypothetical… Say Brad trades for Porter at the deadline and it doesn’t work out and the Lions defense is still a mess… Will the same people bitching that he hasn’t done enough then crucify him for the move and trading away draft capital for a player that didn’t work out? It seems the same people always complain no matter if there are moves made or not.
CB is weak, no question… I don’t think safety is, Clark and Maddox have started over 120 games with 20 years of experience between the two. Neither should look as bad as they do, they’re quality spot starters in this league, which is all the Lions are asking them to be. Those two are the biggest surprise to me, why are they consistently out of position? That’s coaching IMO, don’t run a scheme the players can’t execute

1 player could not help this team enough to make a big difference in the outcome of the season. We’re a borderline playoff team. Some might think the schedule gets us in, but I don’t think it’s a given at all.
All I can say is Shep and Dan better figure this defense out and quickly. The players on that side of the ball aren’t this bad. They just aren’t. I know the first video is from last year, but “DO YOUR JOB SHEP!! THERE AREN’T ANY FREE RIDES THIS YEAR!” Put the guys in positions to succeed.
And to quote the 2nd video - “I’M SICK OF FUCKIN SAYIN IT”
I think some don’t realize that the 30 million roles over to 2027. It’s not spend it or lose it…that 30 million is major.
You know who else were Brads guys? Gibbs, Campbell, LaPorta, Branch, Joseph, McNeill, Ra, and Jamo. All were taken “way too early” or guys who slid to the 3rd/4th round. All 8 are pro bowl/all-pro caliber players. I didn’t mention the no brainers Hutch and Penei.
Or so the big time hits just not count? Literally the foundation of our team he is responsible for drafting. The draft is why we have as much high end talent as anyone. Besides the two studs in the trenches, Brad took players that EVERYONE thought were reaches. Turned out pretty damn well.

They have to be qualified. If we were winning championships no one would be complaining. Instead we are regressing from our peak and problem spots seem to be increasing.
I didn’t claim I can fix it. I claimed I see what (more) successful franchises do that we do not and I do think those things make a difference. The main thing is that they win the offseason. We haven’t done that since ‘23
I see that successful offensive minded coaches hire elite defensive coordinators. We haven’t.
