Pacheco has back surgery, out for significant amount of time (Rapaport says 12 weeks); Miller has knee injury, may miss Thursday

Agree. I wasn’t a big fan of the signing. I could see the idea, and Pacheco would be 2 years removed from the leg injury, but still. He had a solid rookie year and not much else.

The people who act like this is some horrific loss, I don’t get it. Dude never played a down as a Lion, so we aren’t missing performance. He was on an extremely low contract. You can find RB2’s in free agency, or even poaching someone off of a PS. This does not hurt the Lions at all.

For my own wishes, I’d like to see the Lions sign a bigger power back who can pass block. That’s a gap that I still think needs closing.

Swaggy was good

Who ?

I don’t think Pacheco himself is a loss, it’s that he was the only plan for a backup rb before Vaki and Saylors. So no legit backup and concern about Gibbs getting run into the ground all season is what is getting the reaction.

Also the fact Pacheco had an injury history

Jamaal Williams, we have forgotten thee.

I thought it was a reality TV shows nickname

You don’t see the logic fail in saying Holmes pro scouting should be addressed when he got those dudes on the roster in the 1st place through pro scouting

I mean there is nuance to it, right? Yes they did get those guys, they also have gotten players that aren’t working out, and we’ve gone backwards from the nfc championship game

Pacheco was a jag with a name making damn near a vet minimum.

This current roster has more talent than the NFC championship game roster at every position except center

Ok.. I just think they have made some questionable moves and decisions over the last couple years

Not at RB, WR or safety. Safety is just bad luck but the other two positions are definitely weaker.

I would also say the OL is weaker too in addition to those you mentioned

Current Gibbs alone is better than rookie Gibbs and that Monty.

Current Gibbs might be the best non quarterback in the NFL.

Assuming Jamo gets his head out of his ass I’m taking the current version of him and St over what he was then and Josh Reynolds

Gibbs was pretty darn good back then as well, he just didn’t get as many touches. Gibbs, Monty and hell even Craig Reynolds is better than Gibbs and nothing. Also, as @DetroitStrong mentioned, the offensive line was unquestionably better then. I’d also say that the LaPorta of that year is better than the LaPorta of now. The WRs now is a two man show, it had more depth back then, a lot more (‘Lif as the 4 is better than anybody outside of Saint and Jamo now) although yes Jamo is better than the Jamo of then (not based on yesterday) so it sort of evens it out a bit.

Regardless, I think I’d take that 2023 roster over this one also because it had a lot of vet leaders that this one doesn’t have although the young guys can grow into the role. I think we’d all agree that the 15-2 roster was certainly better than this one.

There’s potential here but there’s more “ifs” on this roster than those in 2023-2024 IMO.

We paid him peanuts. I’m still not mad about the signing

The only vet I wish Brad kept that was still in the NFL more than a year after he left Detroit was Carlton Davis and even with him he had missed 4 or more games for 5 straight seasons including his year here.

The 2024 team was one of the best roster in the last decade for any team

0 holes when healthy

But the vets on that team were right on the age cliff and you see proof of that with 80% offensive line out of the NFL. Josh Reynolds is out of the NFL. Alex Anzalone was one of the worst players in the NFL yesterday, wont be shocked if this is his last year in the NFL

Tim Patrick instead of Josh Reynolds but Tim isn’t long for the league either
