Packers axe Campbell

Interesting that they are going the post-June 1st route…

Not a ton of cap space for them IIRC.

Well, that space they created won’t hit the books until summer…

Surprised they haven’t announced release of Bakhtiari already.

They would save about $21 million by releasing him.

@CuriousHusker was correct… a little tight against thw cap right now. Only $11 million in cap space before Campbell’s release.

There’s rumor that Giants may be interested in trading for him.

I’m surprised Rogers did not force the Jets to trade for him. He has that kind of pull in NY.

Shhh, the caps not real or so I’m told

The article says the Packers COULD use the June 1st angle, but it doesn’t say they ARE going the June 1st angle. I am not seeing much of an advantage to the Packers going that route. They would have to eat Campbell’s entire cap hit until June 2nd, so they wouldn’t be able to use the “extra” money on the early parts of free agency. But then after not having the money available, they would be kicking more dead money into 2025 that impacts their free agency and re-signings next year. The best move would be to just eat it and move on. Which is why I want the Packers to use the June 1st designation. :joy:
