I brought it up during the first half. It was a constant but it’s the Packers so we shouldn’t be surprised. I think we should coach our guys to act for the hold a bit. Hutch did so against Chicago and earned one.
I was watching this exact play live, and what you don’t see from the other side / front (maybe replay showed it) is that the guy had his entire arm around Alim’s neck. Alim tried to run by and dude just had him in a headlock like he was trying to choke him out.
The gameplan was the neutralize Hutch and then hold the other guys so bad that they couldn’t take advantage of the attention he was getting. Its sad but true. Its why we need Houston back. He is so explosive and powerful lineman have trouble getting a grip on him, so they can’t use the strategy.
Its also why I think our blitzes are getting home so much more often than our regular pass rush. We aren’t “tricking” them with the blitz. The offensive lines are simply not doing as good of a job at blocking as they look like, so guys like Walker and Analzone can blow right by them before they can get ahold of them. I would also send Barnes more often as well.
Send him FREE on a delayed blitz, yes. Putting him on the line over a Guard before the snap on a blitz is not paying dividends. Either put him on the line out wide or let him come in from off the line. He has a burst of speed that pops on tape… use it.
