Wow. Shitburg making some moves
Wow! Surprised the Packers are giving someone up from their defense. Man, I am going to miss the Packers continually putting Preston Smith on Justin Jefferson and Amon Ra…
Strange one for Pittsburgh but not surprised to see it for GB. Time to get Van Ness more PT.
Yeah they have Van Ness, but also new defensive Scheme i think isnt helping Smith
still, that steelers front 7… yikes. thats a unit
Damn I always enjoyed seeing Preston Smith cover WRs. Good times.
What makes this weird for the packers is that their front 4 has been they only part of the defense struggling with pass rush right now
and they traded one of them away…
I think that’s more snaps for Van Ness. They really need that guy to develop.
Maybe they’re in for Ojulari
maybe?
Atlanta is also in on him aswell.
Seems like the more honest Packers fans may fear that Van Ness is bad at football
That’s what I’ve been hearing. The Packers are waiting for Van Ness to develop and take over some snaps, but he hasn’t been able to do that. Packer fans have been saying their pass rush is even worse than ours.
He hasn’t set the world on fire for sure, but I think they want to see what they really have for sure. And Smith hadn’t been doing anything either, plus he’s turning 32 in a couple of weeks. Not surprised they’re moving on.
They got him for a 7th round pick…
thats really cheap actually wth.
EDIT: Steelers taking on his full contract, that makes much more sense.

He’s due $2.023 million for rest of 2024…
and can be cut after season with no dead money.
32 yo with 2.5 sacks having a down year.
7th rounder is the most I would pay for him
(actually I wouldn’t even give a 7th if I don’t really need pass rush help)
His snaps are way down.
They have have 3 young, healthy alternatives at edge with Van Ness, Gary, and Engabare.
But his play hasn’t fallen off a cliff…
.
.
Didn’t the Packers pick up Preston Smith and Zadarius Smith the same year?
Is Van Ness (2023) really any worse than other recent Packer 1st round defensive picks like Darnell Savage (2019), Eric Stokes (2021), or Quay Walker (2022)?
Seems to be a trend there … underwhelming picks.
