Personally as of today...i am okay with losing to Commanders

So i just got word this morning my lifelong buddy Joey died from complications of his Muscular Distrophy. He was 47 years old. Wasn’t suppose to live past 20. We moved to DC when i was 16. Didn’t clique w people but i did w him. When we lost to the “redskins” in the playoffs back then i watched the game with him and he would tease me about all the loses to his guys. He suffered through alot of loses just like us since then. I was his muscle for 4 years. Basically lived in his house w him andnhis family. Carried him, dressed him, bathed him, fed him, shifted him every hour or so at night so he didnt get bed sores. See the thing is his parents had another son w the same condition, they needed all the help they could get. I’d drive him classes, go see movies. Hell, we were even on the sports junkies once bc he wanted to be a disc jokey and his dad pulled strings to get him on the show…and yes the sports junkies burned me for a segment bc i was a lions fan. Life happens, i last saw him at my dad’s funeral this summer and made a point to go to his house later in the week to check in. He was excited about Daniels and giving me shit for Ben spurning them. We txted after the playoff game. He was ao excited. And he was kind and didnt beat me up too much…so yeah…im good w my boy getting to see his favorite team ever get a couple playoff wins 2 weeks before dying.

Good post. Real life is so much more than a game for entertainment. Sorry for the loss of your friend.

Sorry for your loss, it’s devastating to lose someone so close to you and to have had to watch them slowly deal with something so devastating.

I was recently diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, but mine was late set and only hits certain areas so I am fully aware of how it impacts people but the silver lining for me is mine is not typically terminal it will just impact my mobility in the future.

I lost my best friend a few years back and he was a Bucs fan so that is my second team…only shitty part is he died the year they signed Brady and never got to see them win the SB.

Hold onto all the memories you guys have and I am glad he was able to give you some peace and perspective! Prayers to you and his family and wish you nothing but the best!

Im really sorry for your loss man, im glad he got to see his team make it this far, and get back to relevancy, considering how much shit the Franchise has been in for years.

Prayers to you and his family tonight.

Thanks bud, sorry for your news. If i can give any sort of advice. Make sure you have access to a pool, hot tub ans get massages if possible. We all truly believe that is why Joey lived as long as he did. Swam every day. Was very regimented. His brother, not as disciplined and proactive is younger and probably won’t see 30. Night and day difference between the one who swam and who didn’t.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Having lost many close to me in the last couple years, I know words of sympathy dull the pain but never take it away. I’m glad your friend got to see them improve and win some games. Hug those close to you and we will pray for you and your friends family.

I appreciate ya. I didn’t mean it to sound like anything other then, that’s how close we were. As a 17 year old you learn awful quick not to worry about wtf other people think when you are carrying a person or pushing a wheelchair around. We went to Fed Ex so many times for games, wizards games, movies…beach trips. Hell, was even his wing man a few times…poor guy lol.

Sorry for your loss. Sounds like you had an awesome friendship together, and you’re an especially good friend. Your story honestly makes me a little more ok with it, too. Just like us Lions fans, Washington fans deserve some time in the sunshine of success, too.

I’m very sorry to hear this, but the more I get to know you Man your just a straight up good dude. All the things you did is what makes you special not everyone can put others before them selfs, You should be proud of how you stood bye your friend and the friendship and comfort you provided.

After reading that, I’m good with losing that game myself, even with all the bitching I did. Definitely glad your friend got that win. Sometimes there is a better plan we don’t know.

Good football dude, but a better man
Nothing but Respect Bro
