Ours was represented by Josh Liskiewitz, a senior data collection analyst and Michigan alum. Had us trading up for Quinyon Mitchell.
1, 15: Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo (we gave up 29, 61 and a 2025 3rd for 15 and 117)
3, 73: Brenden Rice, WR, USC
4, 117: Zak Zinter, OL, Michigan
5,153: Marshawn Lloyd, RB, USC (Another trade up, we give 164 and 201 to Jax for 153 and 236)
6, 205: Omar Brown, S, Nebraska
7, 236: Trente Jones, OL, Michigan
7, 249: Blake Watson, RB, Memphis
Couple of things:
Clearly a Michigan homer, but so are a lot of people on here so everyone’s probably fine with that.
2 RBs? I actually happen to really like both guys (Lloyd is my RB1), but 2 RBs? Where will we fit them?
Obviously difficult to predict exactly how the draft will go when you move around this much, but I suspect he’s nailed the feel of it. Brad is unlikely to sit still.
Omar Brown has been getting a bit of helium. Seems he’s firmly in the draft worthy prospect camp according to most draft media. Good for him. Think he can stick if he can contribute enough on teams.
Mitchell is probably the guy I’m most on board with on a move up. Just think with him, Davis, Amik and Moseley outside CB goes from extreme weakness to strength and with it we likely have a top ten-ish defense given decent luck with health.
I don’t mind the late round picks (Keegan or Nugent would also be OK), but I’m not a big Zinter guy, as we’ve discussed. He took him over Brandon Coleman (who will never last that long) and Isaiah Adams, both of whom I think are better fits for what we do. We’ll see in the end. It’s not a Michigan thing, I just think all the blue bloods tend to get overrated come draft day. Go look at all the Alabama players drafted over the past decade. There’s some studs, but a lot more misses than hits. The studs make the other guys look better.
