PFF feels Lions upgraded in #1 CB

PFF has published their position ranking and it list new Lion CB DJ Reed as #6.
The Lions are paying less for Reed than the Patriots are paying for PFF #11 CB CD3.
I look forward to what this Lions defense can be in 2025.
They return the entire starting unit (Alim will be out the early part of the season) except for the upgrade at CB1.
They also add significant depth on the interior D-Line and secondary.
Here is comments from PFF on Reed and the full article:

6. D.J. Reed, Detroit Lions

Reed has yet to become a household name at the position despite excellent play for several seasons. His PFF advanced coverage grade over the past two years ranks fifth, while his 89.3 standard PFF coverage grade ranks 12th.

Reed has put together six straight seasons of earning a 70.0-plus PFF overall grade.

Younger, cheaper and hopefully better than CD3

Disrespectful to have Surtain #2 IMO

I don’t think sauce had a particularly good 2024 season to be ranked #1.
I may not agree but it is a reference point.
