I looked up ZD – interesting:
He had the HIGHEST pass rush grade on the team (72.5). But,
he also had one of the LOWEST run defense grade on the team. (45.3)
We need the pass rush juice more than anything though.

Not surprised by this, he is still learning our run fits. He will only get better.
I was surprised at a lot of the low defensive grades considering the Lions gave up only 41 yards rushing, 129 passing, no TD’s, and only 6 points.
I expect a better game from Z this week away from the pressure of the home fans.
Z was hyped and really wanted to produce for the home crowd.
I think he will play a more disciplined game Sunday in Indy.
Not surprised by any of the fictitious numbers coming from them.
Mitchell was highest graded TE it looks like. Defensive grades seem low considering the lack of production the jags had but whatever. Maybe they felt we should have ended the game 52 to -6
Remember PFF’s system is geared towards “results” and “playmaking” without regard to intent or “winning football plays.” So when a defender successfully sets the edge on a play, PFF will grade that as 0 or possibly even -1 because the defender didn’t beat the block and make the tackle. That same play could be a +1 if he beats the block instead of properly setting the edge. By “beating the block” the defender can be playing losing football, but PFF doesn’t try to interpret the role the player is doing on the play.
Our guys are also dinged when we smother a play and gang tackle. Another ding is when our guys rush the passer while maintaining lane integrity. Breaking the overall rush plan to “beat” the lineman gets a higher score, even if it screws up the overall defensive plan. And of course playing tight man coverage where the ball doesn’t even get thrown that way limits the upside of the overall grade.

I expect Indy will have more Lions than Colts fans.
Jags longest run of the day was 9 yards.
Etienne = 12/27 yards, 2.3 per attempt
Not sure how anyone on defense would have a low run grade after a day like that.
And this is supported by MCDC’s comments after the game, saying ZD was doing his job on run D.
Pff grades in a gif… ![]()

Houston was wondering why does he pull his pants down first?

…cuz pff suuuuucks
My shoulder was in pain as usual…but pff gave me a 77 for pain management.
