Game shouldn’t have been as close as it ended up being. Clearly Montgomery was NOT facemasked and we would have punted instead of continuing the drive and scoring a touchdown. I wish replay could correct those clear errors in the spirit of fair play. Bet.
And the Commanders should’ve been flagged on the Pick 6 and it shouldn’t have counted.
Who cares? It’s a wash as far as I’m concerned.

The pick six was legit. Goff was trying to make a tackle and got lit up. He wasn’t defenseless.

A complete miss by the refs. That said the penalty would have moved wash to the 20 and still could have scored

The QB is considered defenseless if he is hit in the head after an interception:
Per the NFL Rule Book, Rule 12, Section 2, Article 9e:
However, at any time after the change of possession, it is a foul if:
- an opponent forcibly hits the quarterback’s head or neck area with his helmet, facemask, forearm, or shoulder
- if an opponent lowers his head and makes forcible contact with any part of his helmet against any part of the passer’s body. This provision does not prohibit incidental contact by the mask or the helmet in the course of a conventional block.

It should have been a penalty but INT would still count. Wash would have had the ball on the 25 yard line or so.

Except per the rules only the QB is considered defenseless at all times on a return. So yes a forcible blow is a penalty. If you intend to correct people, be correct please.

Watch the video of that hit. Luvu lowed the crown of his helmet and launched directly into Goff’s facemask.
Same guy that knocked Hurts out of the game with a helmet to helmet hit. And no flag.
Branch was ejected for a hit less egregious than that. Not even a flag on Luvu.

The NFL should allow for quick review on both. Get the egregious calls corrected.

I think the misses face mask leading to seven points is further evidence of an underwhelming offensive effort.
Wrong its still helmet to helmet no matter what.
They seriously need to evaluate why Mahomes gets multiple ‘nothing the passer’ calls per game - that no one else gets. Hell, Goff can’t even get the call when he gets speared in the head right in front of 4 refs.
It’s real, and it’s not spectacular.
