Pistons actually win a meaningful game!

Bickerstaff has these guys competitive at least. Cades’ turnovers are still a huge issue though.

The Pistons committed eight turnovers through the first three quarters, but outdid themselves with 11 in the fourth quarter and overtime combined. Cade Cunningham was responsible for five of the 11, including one with 21 seconds left in the fourth that gave the Heat the final possession of the period, and four more in overtime.

Still, they managed to do just enough to win. Cunningham’s final turnover of the night with 17 seconds left set up Herro’s almost-winner on the other end, but the Pistons guard’s assist to Duren ended up saving the night.

Is it something fixable or just something you have to live with at this point?

I asked my doctor the same thing when he told me I had irritable bowel syndrome.

The last :20 seconds was wild!

First you had the no call foul on Cade’s jump ball. Bam Adebayo CLEARLY grabbed Cade’s arm (pulling it down) as they both jumped. This no call gave the Heat the ball as time was ticking out (last possession).

Heat sink a shot with 1.8 seconds left and the game looked over. Crowd was stunned and quiet.

Inbounds play from the sideline (Why is Cade inbounding the ball??!!)

Alley-oop to Duran!! Tie game…

…wait…why are we shooting a free throw? Did they call a foul on the alley? What’s going on?

HEAT CALLED A TIMEOUT…without one!!! Technical foul - free throw - ball out of bounds (Pistons).

Pistons win! Emotional rollercoaster in final seconds from a last second loss, to an alley-oop dunk, technical foul win.

It was a masters class on how to blow a 10 point lead in the last two minutes. I don’t know why cade insists on dribbling into the center of the lane toward the end of the game. He is a turnover machine down there. We got lucky because Miami called the timeout and didn’t have one, otherwise I’m perfectly comfortable predicting the Pistons would’ve lost in overtime. They are better, but they have no clue how to close out games. I think my strategy going forward is to place an endgame bet on the Pistons to blow whatever the lead they have in the last half of the fourth.

Cade is tall and probably your best passer. They had to go alley oop, so thats why he was inbounding.

Cade’s turnovers will improva a little over time, but they need a secondary ball handler with PG instincts…Grant Hill w Lindsey, Paul George w Harden etc. Ivey is turning thr corner but he is a score first hybrid, so you see Cade as trigger and primary playsetter, especially as their 2.

I think they’d like to see him ideally as a 3, but he really isnt

It was wild.
I think the Pistons got the ball out of bounds after the free throw because the Heat had six men on the court. Finally, it wasn’t us who had a meltdown!

The thing about him is he’s not a true 1, 2 or 3.

A perfect compliment to him would be a Jalen Suggs. PG who hardly ever turns the ball over, defense is through the roof, gritty as hell. He’s like a non-shooting Chauncy Billups.

They could handle that if they had better scoring in the frontcourt, but they’re getting their scoring from ivy right now as the secondary option from Cade. This is why I’d really rather see him as a three

The team is definitely improved but man do they suck in the clutch. This should have been an easy win but Cade, again, disappeared down the stretch not scoring and turning the ball over plus they couldn’t stop Herro. These are all learning experiences but it’s a painful one to watch as they go through the process.

With that said, you can see the clear improvements in their play so that’s all we can ask for, a team that is merely watchable and has any semblance of upward trajectory.

The shots that guy was making, dude was on a real heater. We should have stopped the comeback by getting a bucket or two instead of turning it over and over

Yep, they went in the tank when it was 111-102. You need your best player to get you a bucket to stem the tide in those moments and Cade kept coughing up the ball. I like Cade a lot but he’s been god awful in the clutch this season, kind of miraculous that they’re 5-7 considering that.

If you figure it out…let me know. I heard the talking heads going on about it, and it didn’t make much sense to me.

I think its fixable. He can have stretches where it seems to get better. From what i see, they happen when he tries to do too much himself.

Oh, so its like the MLB draft?

Cade might be the least clutch player I’ve ever seen. If he’s not clunking the shot, he’s turning the ball over. Fourth quarters have been brutal. He does OK between the 20s but fizzles out in the red zone.

Ron Holland might be missing that clutch gene as well.

So that pisses me off. I took the Pistons +7 but by the time I went to confirm the bet the line had moved down to +6.5. So they blew a 13 point lead and lost by seven. Weeeee.
