Pistons Draft & beyond

Dammit.

I wanted Kalkbrenner.

Based on above posts I just assumed he wouldn’t be there.

With my limited knowledge on these guys and based on articles. I’d take Chaz from Tennessee

Gotta be chaz or maxime.

It’ll be Chaz. We’ve done a ton of work on him.

Good player…I don’t see him sticking at the NBA level.

Chaz it is.
Dang, I’m used to the NFL draft going to commercial when Detroit picks and now the NBA does the same…

Not shocked literally at all

Listening to Bilas talk about him curious why you don’t think he will stick in the NBA? @HSVLion

Make baskets is good. I don’t think he is a bad fit. Gives us someone to keep the D honest. Probably that’s it until we see otherwise.

Because second rounders usually don’t stick around for more than 3 or 4 years, and it’s even more rare that they actually contribute for their 3 or 4 years within an organization.

It’s like the 7th round of the NFL draft.

If he can shoot consistently from 3 then he’ll get a spot on the roster this fall.

Ok.
I thought you had more reasoning beyond ā€œ2nd round players are long shotsā€.
Shooting consistently seems to be his main skill

There’s just tons of players with his profile that never end up doing anything of note in the NBA.

Also, I know this is going to sound stupid, but the NBA really is a different game than college basketball is, especially in the regular season. There’s plenty of great college players that don’t really fit into the NBA game well, which is often why they don’t stick around.

Broome is a prime example of that. Luka Garza was like that too.

But then, of course, there’s players like Jalen Brunson, who everyone projects to be a ā€œgood college player → bad NBA playerā€ that actually become a really good NBA player.

Taking a guy with a consistent shot like Chaz is the right pick in the 2nd round most of the time. Guys with higher floors.

Yea, NBA hasn’t changed that much in the regard you speak of.
I stopped following early 2000’s and I’m not counting on much with this kid.

Really depends on his shooting ability, from Bilas commentary sounds like he moves well without the ball as well. But, not much said on his defense.
Oh well…on to a boring British tv show.

Well, no one foresaw the value of the flopping skill Brunson has, elite level.

When in doubt, take the shooter

(Joe Dumars during the 2003 draft)

I forgot Alijah Martin was still on the board. I like him.

Chaz is great though.

Ironically three of the second round successes over the last decade in Middleton, Dinwiddie and Bruce Brown were all dumped by the Pistons.

Yeah I know right. LOL.

Although Bruce Brown was really only ā€œgoodā€ for a season or two.
