Pistons - My wish list for the 2024 draft

And the 6th man of the year was the 3rd big off the bench who was the deciding factor them beating the champs Nuggets

If Trajon Langdon wants to become a legend within two months of being the GM, here is what he should do:

Draft Bronny James at 53.

Let the Lakers know that they can have him for pick 55 and Dalton Knecht.

Watch the Lakers real GM and coach, Lebron, go for it.

Knecht is like 23. All of the sudden the Pistons will have two top 15 quality picks this year, and one of their rookies will be like the 2nd oldest player on the team. Instant veteran presence without having to trade or over pay for one.

Honestly, except for one or two, Iā€™ve been surprised how they ALL look like teenagers. ā€œCan any of these guy even buy cigarettes?ā€ type of bad.

Here were my takes:

2020: Haliburton not Hayes, Bey yes, Stewart no (we still owe the Knicks a first rounder for Stewart).
2021: trade 1OA for other picks and Mobley, not Cade
2022: Mathrin or Sharpe not ivey, Duren yes
2023: Ausar Thompson, yes, Sasser yes
2024: Carter or Clingan, not Holland

Starters: Haliburton, Mathurin, Bey, Mobley, Duren
Bench: Sasser, Carter, Ausar, Fontecchio, extra pick from Cade trade

Bey is a number 4 option which is what he is.
Ausar is a defensive shut down specialist which is what he is.
Hali, Math, Bey and occasionally Mobley, Sasser Carter and Font all hit threes
Mobley is your rim protector so Duren doesnā€™t need to be.

The elephant in the room as-is: Cade Cunningham.

I havenā€™t cared or followed since we passed on Kemba Walker

I feel like Clingan is going to be another huskie that haunts us

Gonna be some moves, so stay tuned.

I think itā€™ll be Ivey and Stew sent out and comung back will be a pg. Langdon is a PG guy

FA money gonna get 1 guy for now and take on a couple bad contracts for draft assets ( 1st rd).

Shot doctor coach Vinson is the Hail Mary.

They drafted a lesser version of Ausar. Laughable but all the choices kinda sucked so there was no real RIGHT choice.

The bottom line is that nobody in this draft was going to move the needle anytime soon so next season was always going to be in the Pooper for Cooper (Flagg).

Or a trade to bring in Brandon Ingrahm and Cade stays on ball.

Duren maybe part of that deal?

Ausar is never going to score in the NBA. Holland can and if his shot gets doctored, he will, a lot.

Big If.

I dont see how Holland and Ivey can play on the same team. Certainly cant run them And Ausar out there.

Tyus Jones (FA)/Sasser/Flynn
Cade/Holland/Grimes
Ausar/Fontecchio/Holland
Ingram(Trade Ivey and Stew)/FA banger/Metu
Duren/Wiseman/FA(sal dump)

15th man is 2nd rounder

Thats still a shitty 30ish win rosterā€¦but itā€™s a start.

Getting Ingram would make this team watchable for me.

Surprise is an understatement.

And maybe not even one of the top surprises:

I woke up today seriously questioning my Pistons fandom

Today? Where ya been the last 20 years rip van winkle

I didnā€™t start following the Pistons until about a week before the Blake Griffin trade. Thatā€™s when I got my first 2K (2K18).

You arenā€™t even close with regards to the Tigers, however, Iā€™m sure the rant felt good.

I have no problem with the pick , this has been labeled a weak to terrible draft, pistons took in some experts eyes ( mocks big boards) the number 1 prospect in the draft . With the exception of Reed Shepherd I donā€™t see another player stepping in a being a big asset this year. The issue is can the pistons actually develop anyone , if they can imho they took the number 1 player in this draft.

So is this, my bolded section, due to not having a coach or itā€™s the Pistions we donā€™t waant to go there.

Langdon said he tried, and fielded calls right up until the selection. But he liked Holland more than he let people know, although the Pistons never brought him in for a visit. There was a reason for that. And then there was a bit of a ploy.

ā€œThere were a lot of agents that didnā€™t want to send their players here,ā€ Langdon said. ā€œAt the end of the day, staying quiet was a strategy. ā€¦ Of course Iā€™d be elated if we could pick up an asset and move back and get a player of Ronā€™s caliber. But weā€™re very, very happy getting Ron.ā€

Im not?
Yes they have above average pitching.

But they have MAYBE 2 good hitters for the future. And good as in middle of the oder.
Everyone else is trash. Even those 2 hitters are horrible defensively. Arnt fast.
And every year for the last 20 years i hear about prospects and they never develop.

Outside of pitching this tigers team is historically bad.
