Pistons vs. Knicks: Round 1

Here we go.

Pistons haven’t won a playoff game since the going to work days … 2008. We will finally break that streak.

Knicks also have their best team in quite awhile…but have gone 1-3 against us, and 0-8 against the Cavs and Celtics. They feed off the bottom.

Knicks like to drop a center to give their guards help on Cade … it has not worked, Cade is averaging 30.8 against the Knicks in four games. Will they put their star Anunoby on Cade instead?

Our home court crowds have FINALLY showed up lately. MSG is also a very tough place to play, but we’ll be up to the task.

I’m not sure who is going to win, but I’d be surprised if this series does not go 7 games.

Who you got? I’ll be a homer and say Deeeetorit basketball in 7.

I don’t think we are ready to compete at a contender level until we have one more elite scorer. Damn Ivey would have helped so much.

But that said due to our defense, I don’t think there is a single team that actually “wants” to play us.

Can we add the VILLAIN moniker to this team also? I hope so. Go Pistons!!!

Fun times for sure. We’ve got a good young nucleus that is just going to get better in the coming years. Cade is a stud. Our defense can be quite stifling as well. I think we have a shot against these Knicks.

I didn’t watch any of the games to see how they defended Brunson, as he seems like he would be trouble for Cade or TH3. Ausar? Kinda like that idea. OG on Cade sounds right for them, he is wasted standing outside watching TH3.

I think our bench is gonna feast and Holand may be a surprise that way.

Great year, but i think knicks win in 6

Pistons got some straight up Dawgs on defense. And they have had some success against the Knicks. Pistons have every chance of winning, if the refs call it fair.

Brunson was a beast against us for the first three games. The last one we held him in check with 15 points, but I think he was nursing an ankle injury. We used a variety of guys on him, with inconsistent success. At least we have a lot of athletic bodies to throw at him. The Knicks have a pretty darn good starting five. Our bench has to win their battle.

On target. That IS the rub. The Pistons have always been about defense. The good Pistons teams anyway. Buuut—

The BadBoys lived in an era when defense ruled. And was allowed. And we won it all twice.

The going to work team lived in an era of transition. Flagrant fouls were a thing. Hand checking was being phased out. And we won it all just once.

This team lives in an era where defense is frowned upon. You can’t realistically try to block a three point shot, lest you land where the shooter is supposed to land. Ref’s are calling fouls base on reputation rather than what they actually see on the court.

I think its better than 50-50 that we are going to be livid with how this series is officiated. Wimpy Silver, who folds to every player demand, does not want defense in the NBA.

I guess I’m to unemotionally attached to this team so I expect the officiating to be rough. Probably won’t be livid just a “Yep what I thought”
Im all in on them winning and will watch as I can but if they manage to get past the Knicks it will only get worse.
The Knicks, from what I’ve read also play tough defense so that could play in Detroit’s favor in this series.

I have to say, with replay challenges being available, I don’t have a lot of problems with NBA officiating this these days. Are there bad calls from time to time… Yes. It happens in every sport. But I think I was more upset in years past than I have been during the most recent years… especially with coaches challenges available.

I would like to see every team have at least two challenges per game and an unlimited number if they are right on every challenge. Especially in the playoffs.

Knicks with a gentleman sweep.

7 games and in the Detroit Freep they talk about the “quick” turnaround" after Game 1, they play on Monday. LOL

Series starts April 19 and if it goes 7 ends on May 3.

Right? How many days do these 20-year-olds need to recover from running around for 30 minutes a game? When I was that age, in the summertime, I would play basketball every day of the week. I never felt any worse going on back to back days. Certainly no effect with 48 hours rest. Oh well, the rich and famous get pampered. Such is life.

You know the league has to pimp these games out for as long as possible to maximize revenue.
