I’m still firmly committed to the idea that Detroit is paying their own core players and adding to them via the draft this year. My only expectation regarding Free Agency is that Lions fans will be disappointed.

If Brad has called about Garrett, and Hunter supposedly the year before you have to think we check in on Hendrickson. Dan having been with him in New Orleans can’t hurt and wasn’t he also in the same draft class as Anzalone as well? And played in the SB with Reader? Honestly if we were ever gonna trade for a DE this is the one.

I just want to put this out there with all the craziness surrounding DT and DE conversations…
1 year ago, our DL consisted of:
Hutch, McNeil, Benito, Commish
Houston, Levi, Alualu, Paschal
Okwara, Harris, Martin
Everyone agreed we needed someone opposite Hutch and there was plenty of conversation about whether we had a 3t or needed a 3t.
Now we have:
Hutch, McNeil, Reader, Smith
Davenport, Wingo, Martin, Paschal
On top of that, we have Barnes locked up. I find it odd how worked up we are over Edge. Is there room to add one? 100% yes. Is it a “need” that warrants such vociferousness regarding adding one premier player? It’s not nearly as big a need as it was last year, yet there’s 10x the convo.
I think we’re entering the 2025 free agency season in much better shape than entering 2024’s. Za’Darius and DJ are HUGE assets on the roster, IMO. As a front-4, that’d have to be right up there around the league. It’s like we just finished a season with all 4 playing and we’re still left wanting. We HAVEN’T even seen our full, current defensive roster play together yet.
