Possible End of Season pitching decision

Lets say us and Royals are tied come Sunday, and Twins eliminated. Do we still throw Skubal on Sunday?

A Sunday win and Royals loss would give us the one game playoff at home. Or do we save him for Monday, and have to possibly go to KC with a loss? But have Skubal ready.

I think in most cases, we should not start Skubal

we need him game 1 or game 2 at the latest.

no brainer here… if Tigers have clinched a playoff apot…
Skubal doesn’t throw a pitch until the playoffs.

They don’t have one game playoffs anymore.

Tie goes to the best head to head record.

If I understood your question correctly.

Exactly… Speaking of which in the NL the mets braves gotta play a double header on monday with the playoffs starting on Tuesday… Both teams will go all out to win and then be royally screwed in the playoffs pitching wise.

Not the regular season tie. I believe the 2 lowest seeds to make the playoffs play a one game series to advance, with the better overall record hosting. Unless im mixing something up.

Yeah that’s gone…they tried it for a few years. It’s best of 3 now. I know cause the Jays always lose round 1 :joy:

2 byes… Worst division winner plays 3rd WC
WC 2 plays WC 3

Thx, dammit, since the tigers have been outta contention for a long while, i really been out of the loop. So definitely doesnt matter about Skubal…save him!

The minute we clinch a playoff spot the decision should be made that Skubal won’t pitch again until the playoffs.

I don’t care if we get the 2, or the 3 seed. Having Skubal for game 1 of a 3 game series is most important.

Also will point out… that the 3-game series are scheduled for Tue-Wed-Thur next week… so throwing Skubal on Sunday would require him to then throw on 3 days rest to take mound in game 3 of a wild card series.

I don’t like the Braves either.

But I will be rooting like a bitch for them this weekend.

I feel the same way about the Yankees… So I get it.

My favourite team in the playoffs is always whoever the Yanks are playing… The Tigers beating the Yanks would be next level fun

I think that “if” the Tigers make the playoffs it’s a no brainer that Skubal gets that first game. I’m more interested on how Hinch would slot the pitching for the other two games. Olsen in the second game? Would he dare slot Jobe in as the starter for game 2 or 3? If Olsen does get game 2 and game 3 happens, who’s he gonna peg for that game 3?

I would much rather play at Baltimore vs at Houston.

LOL
Funny story we were at the ST game in the early 90’s in Ft Lauderdale Yankees vs Braves. Chipper was the hot prospect and was going to get called up that spring til he blew out his knee or ankle in that game.

Also saw Brien Taylor pitch for the Yankees the hotshot HS pitcher who was gonna be the next Yankee star pitcher…til he got in a bar fight in Charleston iirc.
