Predictions--Vikings at Lions Week 18

Perhaps someone can add a poll, but my prediction is that a pissed off Lions team going up against a Vikings team which has nothing to play for (and no Hockenson safety valve), is going to experience a 2023 Denver Broncos type of loss.

Lions scored 30 on the road at Minnesota. Surely, they will score even more at home.

yup - momentum is what coach dan will be talking about. Dallas thinks they got the last laugh. We shall see

Anything can happen in the NFL but the Vikings looked demoralized last week and have no idea what to do at QB.

Lions may be up so much they are resting starters in the 3rd.

A p-oed Lions team and an offense motivated to show well after only scoring 19.

OTOH: if the Lions have a healthy lead by halftime, w/O and D looking good, there’s no way DC doesn’t pull some guys. It’d be hella stupid to risk key guys going down in the 2nd half of an all-but-meaningless game just before a very rare Detroit-Lions-involved playoffs.

But it’s also hard to keep piling on points w/your backup QB playing behind some backup guys and throwing to backup guys. Much more likely that the game devolves into a slog at that point.

I don’t want to see any trick plays. just run a lot of ‘standard’ plays that you have trick plays for.

I know he wants to play starters but that running game needs to be healthy so I hope we see a lot of backups there.

I don’t think you will see that. The coaching staff will save that stuff for the playoffs.

Both Monty and Gibbs go over 1,000 yards rushing on the season. Gibbs needs 85 and Monty needs 25 I believe.

Monty’s a “no brainer”–Gibbs, doubtful. He’s only had 2 games over 85 yards rushing all season.

Lions only getting -3 at home from Vegas, meaning it’s practically even. Wonder if Vegas sees Detroit sitting their top guys.

This game worries me a bit. Mainly because it’s one of the few times I don’t care too much if I miss out watching it.
If I feel that way, it makes me think the team might have a hard time getting up for a meaningless game as well. Saying all that, I am a die hard fan since the early 70’s. I never missed a second of any game in our 0-16 season.
My focus is now laser like on playoff football in Detroit.
I hope Dan can rile the troops for this game, I also don’t want him to risk the starters. Mixed feelings on how this game will play out.
LY in Pack land we had motivation to prove we were playoff worthy and keep Erin sitting on his a$$ for the rest of the year. I just don’t feel a motivating vibe for this game.

Here is my thing, and I feel similar to you btw…

We can’t pretend to can, and at the same time not to care… neither can Dan.

Either play the starters and put up 40 points, or rest the team aside from a “dress rehearsal,” and live with the result. That’s really what we have to do.

11-6 and healthy…. 12-5 looking scary, but maybe dinged up?

I’d rather be healthy, but there is not certainty we don’t stay healthy anyway?

I just don’t think attack, villain, knee caps, etc is something we can shut down on game day, and “CRANK BACK UP” a week later.

This is how I feel, and how I think Dan feels too. I think he understands and cares a ton about momentum and we blow the vikings out of the water this weekend.

38-13 Lions

Our guys are PISSED!!!

Can’t lose by 1 if you’re up by 50.
We need to take back what was stolen…with a vengeance.
Right now!!! This is when you want to get hot.
I can’t imagine a team or face base, “Hotter”, right now.

Been out the loop last few days. We likely to see CJGJ or any of the other guys back from injury?

Yes, CJGJ and McNeill.
