Eli didn’t make it this time.
Just so I understand, Sterling Sharpe played 7 seasons: averaged 90 catches, 1235 yards and 10 touchdowns per season gets in. Reggie Wayne averaged similar numbers of 86 catches, 1186 yards and 7 TDs for 13 seasons does not.
No offense to Sharpe whose career was cut short by injuries, but to put him in and slight Reggie Wayne, what are doing?
So Sharpe is one guy I’m really glad got in. It’s hard to remember for fans of other teams but not us: for a 4-5 year stretch, he was practically the best WR in the league. Injuries ruined him and not just because they ended his career early, they sullied his ability in our minds as he tried to play through them for a couple of seasons. He was so, so good.
And when it comes to the Hall, I’m all for giving invites to the BEST players, and not just the guys who compile stats. That’s why I’m glad Terrell Davis and Gale Sayers are in too. Like Frank Gore will never be a HOFer for me.
Also I think it’s criminal that Kuechly didn’t get in first time.
So many people about Eli… But how the heck is Mike Shanahan not in the hall of fame? Multiple super bowl wins. One of the biggest coaching trees in nfl history. His zone running offense was absolutely lethal and changed the game.
Agree with all of that.
Here here. Shanny should be in for sure. And do it before he dies, sheesh.
I don’t get it either. His last staff in Washington is spread out all over the league.
I fear you and I would not have much to discuss over a beer as it seems we would just nod at each other and go yep…yep…yep…
And even if it wasn’t, he still has 2 super bowls to fall back on…
Jared Allen was a no brainer. He was a stud.

Don’t disagree but I would hardly call Wayne an accumulator either. He’s got as good a case as Isaac Bruce who’s in. If you hold out Wayne then you hold out Anquan Boldin too.
Happy for Sharpe. Dude was an absolute beast and one of the best.
Its still crazy how Holt and Wayne arent in at WR
Position mught be on of the most jog lammed ones outside of IOL
Yeah I didn’t mean it to be a knock against Wayne, just that comparing stats across teams and eras isn’t what I think is the best way to go about it. Wayne is definitely right there too, based on his own merits.

Cause the passing stats have exploded over the past 20 years. That’s why I’m anti-accumulators. Were they studs or not? That’s the question I’d ask. If the answer is yes, put them in. If not, don’t. That will of course lead to a lot of people with some huge career stats missing out, but so be it.
Fair, but Holt being apart of the 2000s all decade team, led the league in recieving yards twice and receptions (2003), 7 straight years of having over 1000 plus yards, 5 straight with over 90 plus
Like he was just utterly dominate during the 2000s, and Moss, TO, Chad Ochocinco were still around
Idk, but holt specifically grinds my gears, dude is a core piece of the greatest show on turf, he deserves his flowers
Well see in that case I wouldn’t care about the numbers. Like I said, I’d ask myself the question was he a stud or not? Clearly for you the answer is yes, and I lean that way as well. Numbers be damned.
Certainly he and Wayne had the luxury of playing in some of the best offenses of the era (another reason I don’t like the counting stats), but to me that only means they had more opportunity to impress. They still had to do something with those opportunities.
I never considered Reggie Wayne a great player but he was one of the few Colts of that era that consistently showed up for the playoffs. When Marvin Harrison was on the milk carton, Reggie was catching balls.
Now whether Marvin was on the milk carton for being MIA in the playoffs or for his latest drive by shooting, that’s a different story altogether.
