QB in round 1?

Goff probably has a lot of years, but the other thing the Pack used to to was draft QBs after the first round, train em up and them flip them

I’d like to see the Lions do that

Yes. Need to draft QB round 2 or 3 in case of injury or anything else that may come up?

Goff is not indestructible.

If there is a qb that you have faith in or think his ceiling is higher than the guy you got maybe take him and figure out the rest later. Round 1 is a bit steep but it really is about conviction in the pick and player.

Brad drafting a QB high keeps me up at night. WR seems like the safe path LOL.

Looking at the “consensus” big boards… which may not mean much for Holmes… but still a general idea….

and about 8-10 OL guys are ranked in the top 50 players.

Also… there is a Center from Florida named Jake Slaughter.

This team drafting a guy named “slaughter” just seems like destiny.

Trenches, my man. OL, and DL. Arnold is usually positioned very well, though has had a couple of slip-ups, lately. He will get better at his craft. His trajectory reminds me of Slay. I actually think he’s ahead of where Slay was at the same point in time. Patience.

Kyle Allen seemed fine. Can he be Shaun Hill? Maybe. Goff is gonna be here for minimum 5 years.

Manu will get this year to start working into Skipper’s role and next year to be a creditable backup, but they need a Plan B for him.

Glasgow may not be cooked but he is 50/50 a starter next year. Continuity may be the goal here with the young OGs having 2 years under their belt before making changes. Im fine with that.

Sign Gibbs, sign Hutch, sign Branch, sign SLaP. Couple this year, couple next. Keep drafting corners.

That’s where it’s at

Golf is solid and provided he is protected he will be fine for several years

Also the line is needed for the run attack

Trust the GM. He’s done amazing in a few short years

I guarantee you Holmes is aware of how the SF’rz went from Montana–> to Young –> to Garcia, as well as

How Fudge’s went from Favre –> to A-A-ron –> to Love

Holmes has a plan. Crazy-legs didn’work out, but we had the right idea, IMO. Hook just didn’t work out. Homes hits far more often than not.

Trade 3 number ones in a few years for Bryce Underwood. LOL Although Lion number ones are like the top of 2nd round…most likely won’t be enough. Thats of course Byrce keeps getting better.

This!

JG16 isnt depending on his athletism, he’ll only get better next years before his arm strength will decline at some point far away from now.

This’d be my vote. I do wonder if the Lions plan on flipping Penei over to the left side when Deck retires. But they definitely need a quality OT - and drafting one, rather than free agency, is a way to save some money.

I hope they won’t be feeling the need to dip into the CB pool yet again.

The main needs I see are OT, DE, and possibly-but-probaby-not CB. LB could be another w/AA likely to go after this year.

And I think we’ll see Brad do what he always does: see what holes he can fill in free agency without breaking the bank, pick the best available player who matches a remaining priority need, and go from there. It’s not gonna be QB in the 1st, though.

Agree with this 100%.

I think there is still some hope Manu can be that guy. I would suggest that Center is a much more pressing need. And even if Tater moves over to center you would like to develop the Oline guys from within to save that cash. So a true Center of a C/G guy and see who can move over between new guy and Tater. And I like the idea of Manu being at least Skipper replacement. At this point him just being useful would feel like a win. And I realize he is still young. But he curve has to get steeper. Right now it feels like he has flattened out a bit and for sure at the wrong spot. He needs to be at least Skipper level before he levels out. Right now I think he is only good for FGs.

I’d rather trade for a QB who hasn’t worked out because of a shit team / coaching. But that’s once Goff is gone. If Brad identifies a QB in the 3rd or later then I’m okay with it. We need to keep reloading with 1st rounders that are near NFL level out of college. Keep building those trenches and defensive backfield.

My only thought on this is that Holmes does a great job of plugging the holes typically before the draft so he can focus on the best available vs need. So while I agree with this approach don’t be surprised when you are surprised….LOL.

And some dudes on here who are way more plugged in to the draft and players available seem to imply that the D-line crop is quite deep and talented. Especially at DE. It was even suggested that Holmes has been slow playing the DE situation banking on getting some talent in this upcoming draft which seems insane but he is not called the Villian for no reason.

Kirwin and Miller talked about this thing, QB’s succeeding with teams that didn’t draft them, on their show yesterday.

Both expect this to be a trend, if not already, to continue as teams are giving up way to fast on young QB’s. Baker, Darnold, Jones, were used as examples and then brought up the young guys struggling Penix, Bo, JJ, Dart(probably will vs LAC). They added teams can’t give up on them quickly if they are going to start them out of the gate.

Mentioned one coach telling them off the record that “I’m developing this guy to get me fired and the next guy to have success”.

When Rodriguez gets back, he’ll be back in the rotation.

Brad will find a 4th round gem.

Well, threre is a new equation in the mix, so, are you positive on that…
