Rams News: Lions Fans Critiqued by Ex-Detroit CB Slay for Treatment of Matthew Stafford

Slay, Slay, Slay. One of my favorite draft picks simply because he was about the only 2d Rd pick who was actually any good over a 20 year period.

But, what a bad take. Slay must’ve been oblivious to the whole “Detroit Rams” march to the Super Bowl thing. Lions fans gave Stafford his due when it was appropriate. But, it was the Lions home playoff game since 1991, against the ex-wife, and at home.

Come On Man!!

By the way, he’s probably due for a repeat in the opener on Sunday night football:

Everything about the situation is just opinion. There is no right or wrong way to look at it. The way Slay views it is how many organizations now view it. They are even doing tributes to former great players when they make their return. Then the boo’ing starts as soon as the game starts. The Colts did a tribute to Peyton Manning for his return to Indy. Then they proceeded to kick his ass!

Wait till Slay stands between us and the Super Bowl.
You come into our house as the enemy, we’re not friends.

Yahtzee

Exactly. Slay hasn’t been to Detroit for a playoff game. Hopefully he gets a chance.

You can tell there’s nothing going on right now. Just a Stafford fluff piece with no substance. Damn right he got booed and he will again. The dude wanted out and was traded? We won 3 games the following year. Thankfully Shiela didn’t blow it up after we started 1-6 in year 2. We can give Stafford his due after he retires.

Based on the follow up footage it seems stafford was ready for it and it pumped him up even…

Dont care what slay says on it, ever since seattle fans threw food on Navarro bowman after he tore his acl in the NFC championship game i neglected to care too much about fans booing players.

They can be much more ugly than that.

I loved the Stafford pick, loved the guy for what he did here and still hold him in high regard. But let’s not (Slay) forget that he ASKED for a trade. He raised his hand, going to management saying he wanted to leave us, our town and this fanbase. Do I blame him? Not one bit based on the turd sandwiches he was dealt while he was here. But you don’t get to asked to be traded, then wonder why you aren’t treated as the return of King Richard the Lionheart after going to Cali and getting a ring.

Stafford was an amazing Lion, and deserves to be celebrated. To this day, he is still supporting the Detroit community. Just 100% a class act.

As @Jman pointed out though, the playoff game wasn’t the right time for it. That moment was meant for the new Lions and their fans.

I hope we give Stafford his due in the first game this year.

AFTER the game.

Especially when you’re bringing your hand picked new team into our house after you requested the trade.

He coulda been a Panther and the Lions could have had both Sewell and Parsons.

I remember a post asking how people felt he would be treated before the playoff game… I think his treatment was much harsher than this board felt would happen…

With the regular season opening with the Rams, will the boo birds comeback out for game 1?

My heart tells me the fans will want to make it up to Stafford and give him love.

My head tells me that there are too many boo birds that will unleash when they have any perceived villain to root against.

Fans were very clear who their allegiance was with. You can’t expect anything else When we’re as starved for success as we are. Stafford appreciation will be shown when an appropriate time arrives. Many, many Lions fans love Stafford, but when there’s competition and he stands between us and our goals, f him.

The time to reflect and celebrate a player’s accomplishment is either in the moment while on your team or after the player hangs them up for good.

I boo’d louder than most when the Rams came on the field and I would do it all again if they played them again in the playoffs this season.

Slay really didn’t say chit, Matt WAS getting his ass beat behind those lines and I pointed it out almost daily , as a team we were losing football games, mostly due to “dip shit” Leadership that had NO IDEA what they were doing, our guys were out of shape, running the wrong routes ‘at times’ and team confusion. really the teams did not fail-The Leadership they were under did , and it dragged the team down into the mire.

I feel like had we gotten Sewell and parsons we wouldn’t have Hutchinson. I’m good with how everything worked out.
