A sneaky move the wings could make…would be Austin Matthew’s. I think under contract till 28 or 29. Yzerman wont sell unless he has contract control on a player

I doubt Toronto ever trades him.
No but he might want out. Apparently I heard something about fans calling him a traitor and another crap.
Obviously, any team would take a scorer like Matthews, but I’m with @HSVLion - Toronto isn’t trading him and even if they did, it’d take the entirety of the Wings farm team lol.

Lots of smoke around the Wings trying to trade for Tyler Myers. Gonna be honest, that’d be pretty underwhelming for me.

Apparently we agreed to a deal with Vancouver but Myers isn’t going to waive his NTC to come to us.

He’s definitely a Stevie Y style defensemen, but I feel like it flies in the face of all the other smoke we’ve heard. He’s old, doesn’t have a ton of term. Maybe the asking price is super cheap, but yeah, doesn’t move the long-term needle I was expecting after all the talk about term.
Just threw it out there. I think need another wing/c and top def line player

Yeah, I agree and that’s what most people believe Yzerman is in the market for. A Top 6 guy (really a 2nd C) and a Top 4 D man (probably RD, so that they can protect ASP a bit in the playoffs by moving him to the 3rd line with AlJo).
As always, it’s always an issue of finding a dance partner willing to make a deal, the player being willing to come here if they have a say, and being able to bridge the gap when it comes to making both teams happy in terms of assets.

We seem to always struggle vs Carolina as well. They’re so structurely sound on defense they really make it hard on everyone

I’d be good with a Center, or a Dman, but all things being equal I really think this team needs a Dman more than anything to round out the top 4.

Red Wings really need an offensive player to break through the glass ceiling in a way nobody saw coming.
Yzerman was in Tampa and they had several players become stars who were drafted after the 1st round.
We need this kind of development from our 1st round forwards…
and would be be great to get a later pick to breakout as well.
