Red Wings Chat: 10/20 - 10/26

Wooooweeee, who would’ve thought the Red Wings would be 5-1 (10 pts) in their first 6 games? Not only does this put them in first place in the Atlantic, but they’re also tied for first in the entire Eastern Conference! And they’ve done it beating really good teams - TORx2, TB, FLA, EDM. If you told me the Wings were going to sweep that 5 game stretch, I would’ve laughed at your face. Especially if you told me Raymond would miss time throughout it.

Not only that, but the Griffins are also 4-0, and atop the Central division in the AHL.

Some really awesome things happening for the Wings right now:

  • Larkin starting the season with a 6 game point streak (5g, 6a - 11pts) is currently #3 in total points in the NHL. Huge start to the season.

  • Finnie and ASP look like the real deal. Finnie is tenacious on the forecheck, almost always seems to be in the right position, seems to fit in so naturally with Larkin it’s scary. Finnie is also leading the league in points among rookies. (2g, 3a). ASP is so smooth on the blueline and isn’t scared to shoot. It’s been a joy seeing him next to Edvinsson. They both scored their first NHL goals this week:

  • Aside from the first game from Gibby, both Goalies are playing pretty well. Talbot has been better (1.78 GAA and .932) but Gibson has looked great his last two as well.

This week, we’ve got:
Wed - @BUF (2-3), 7:30PM
Thurs - @NYI (2-3), 7PM
Sat - vsSTL (3-2), 7PM

Red Wings fans are eating good right now!

Great post my friend. Love it!. It’s nice to see a little excitement over this team.

Your entire post was too positive though, and you forgot to mention how suckie the first line is

Wings need to find a way to get this guy to Detroit sooner than later.

Brent Soloman (2025 4th rounder) is also tearing up the USHL so far, too - tied for first in goals (9) and points (15) in 10 games. Seems like the Wings have a guy at the top in nearly every league right now.

He was back last game and I know he left for a bit and came back, but as far as I know, he’s good to go?

It’s all good brother. I think we’re both probably a little hot-headed and I’ve enjoyed getting into arguments here lately more than I should admit.

Gibson in again tonight.

Glad to see Todd shuffle that bottom pairing a bit. Obviously helps with Kane being out and someone moving to slot up there, but outside of line 1, Wings have been rough.

Time to see MBN score a goal. He’s close, just needs to speed it up a little bit. You can tell he’s still adjusting to how quickly everything closes at this level

Feel bad for the kid that he’s been stuck on a line with Copp and Compher. Talk about bad luck lol

If they can’t get out of their own zone even 5 on 5 feels like a PP.

Gibson standing on his head.

Need to clean up our break out, start winning some face offs, and create a little offense. Sloppy in our end so far
