One thing becomes more clear to me every single day.
Dylan Larkin is a dumbfuk.
Also he wants out so bad. I wouldnât be surprised if he puts a few more teams on the list
I also dont think wings will get ready nhl players. Larkin is a number 2 center and nothing more
Yzerman waited too long on this. He should have pulled the trigger immediately on a trade when the three teams on the list had assets. He waited because he thought he had leverage and now those teams have nothing, and one of them isnât even interested. The chance of him getting a mediocre return have increased exponentially, and that would make him look even worse. Larkin is the catalyst here but Yzerman backed himself into a corner.
If he really wants to be traded he will add more teams. Yzerman has not been a good GM but he is handling this exactly as he should IMO.
I agree. But I think Yzerman might be asking too much for him
Iâm not a hockey guru by any means. Half the guys being talked about in a trade I never even heard of lol.
I want to be a Redwings fan though and from my very narrow vision I feel like this team needs a real star. Wouldnât packaging Larkin and some picks bring that back in return?
I doubt a team is going to trade a stud for Larkin. If Larkin was a 100 point guy. Probably. But I donât think hes worth as much what people think he is.
I agree they shouldnât trade him for players that have proven they have little upside.
It might be more beneficial to get prospects that have potential.
I donât think Latkin will fetch a âstarâ player, but having him locked up for 5 more years at a now âreasonableâ cap hit does help the Red Wings.
I would be happy with that. Just give me a legit reason to watch them. Thats all Iâm asking for. If itâs prospects then I can at least watch them grow.
Heres also an issue with wanting a ready player back.
The only real way they get one is a player either on an Expiring deal, or way over priced deal.
Expiring deal meaning that player has to agree to a contract. And with the cap shooting up, and that player being decent. Its likely gonna take 7yr $10m aav. I worry Steve will blow those negotiations and that player will just become an FA after the year anyway.
Or what if the player he wants has a NMC,
I dont see many ways Steve gets what he wants
Sure steve can hold out. But that just lowers the value of larkin and the wings
@GreggyJ totally disagree.
I think so far Yzmerman has played THIS perfectly. Larkinâs value has gone up with trade of Tkachuck and offer sheet for the other center whose name escapes me.
Larkin has become more valuable in a trade.
I still think Steve trades him before season but I think we will now get more than we would have.
@Martymcfly2017 I agree heâd be a great #2 center but I think for some of the teams heâs still an upgrade at #1.
Iâll bash Yzerman about other things but not about how heâs handled this so far
I hope you were looking directly in the mirror when you typed this! ![]()
My prior post.
âDallas offered Robertson, but steve said no because Robertson wants a $12m+ aav extensionâ
Again then what do you want steve???
The magical 1:1 trade for a player on a similar deal? Has that EVER happened in the NHL? No.
âSteve wanted Wyatt Johnsonâ - Dallas said Haha no.
So make the move!
Thats your only option.
Expiring deals or a bunch of prospects and picks
..
.
Robertson wants significantly MORE than $12 million AAV.
He turned down $12 million from Dallas, where there is zero state income tax.
He turned down $15 million AAV from Vancouver.
Wings might have an advantage if he wants to come home, but he will be near double the price of Larkin.
.
Is Robertson better than Larkin? Is he worth 12+ million a year?
Yikes
Roberston runs circles around Larkin
Johnston anyone? ![]()
