Red Wings Off-Season Thread

Buffalo completely outplayed them the last few periods but Montreal managed to score when it mattered most.

Went to bed after the 3rd was over, but agree - I thought Buffalo was really outplaying them and it was only a matter of time before they scored. They technically did, but a quick whistle negated it.

I was pulling for the Canadiens but wouldn’t have been upset either way, and regardless of who won I didn’t see either team beating Carolina. I’m thinking it’ll be Carolina Colorado final and Colorado wins, but you never know with hockey.

And you never know with how these refs “even up” calls.

And you really never know when you include gambling.

And you really never ever know when you include tv ratings money.

And you really never ever ever know when… ah well I can’t think of another thing now but I’m sure there’s something else preventing us from knowing :winking_face_with_tongue:

Need MBN to make the jump in the fall. Wings need scoring and apparently he has the hardest shot on the roster .

Even if he is not perfect defensively. Not sure how much he can learn in the minors

So what moves should we be making this offseason? I’m not as close to hockey as I used to be.

Open to hearing it all!

Really need a top 6 forward and top line def player to help Moe out

The Wings aren’t moving Ed from the top line. The most I could see them adding is another guy to pair Faulk to bump Chairot to the 3rd line, but I don’t think you’ll even see that because it’d block ASP from playing time.

I’d be surprised to see the Wings do anything meaningful on defense at the NHL level unless someone gets shipped out.

Def needs help. But what do I know

That’s why they traded for Faulk last season. They’re going to be locking up Ed long-term for probably 7-9m a year since he’s an RFA. Mo already makes 8.5m. Faulk makes 6.5m and Chairot (who just signed a 4-year extension) makes nearly 4m. That’s 25%-ish of the salary cap on 4 guys.

The Top 4 is basically set in stone. The only matter on defense is who is getting the spot next to AlJo on the 3rd line? ASP or JBD? If someone gets shipped out? Sure, they could add someone. But they’re not moving on from Mo or Ed. They’re likely not trading a guy they just signed to a 3-year extension 3 months ago and they’re not moving on from Faulk unless they’re sellers at the deadline.

I just don’t see anything meaningul happening on the blue line. :man_shrugging:

So their going to keep sucking in March. I get what your saying, but Yzerman needs to step it up a little. Faulk is a 3rd liner to me

I came into this game a little late because I wanted to finish something figuring we might have a goal or two and WHAT THE 4-1 MONTREAL?!

I’ve been wanting to see a Canadian team finally get the Cup back where it belongs.

Wrong. Keep the Cup in the states.

Too much rest between games can turn into rust. Montreal taking advantage.

Avs are missing Makar and lost game one to Vegas. These won’t be easy series.

Nah, if Detroit can’t have it the other 49 states can eat shit. Might as well send it back to Canada until next season.

I am assuming you’re joking with that.

I would never joke about wanting Montreal to lose
