Remember the Debrinkat trade didnt happen till almost 2 weeks after FA started. And Kane was mid season and those were 2 of the biggest additions in 2023.

Last year they signed,
Llyon, Sprong, Holl, Fischer, and Compher.
They still have Holl, Fischer and Compher.

Replaced sprong with rookies (Kasper and Soderblom) and Dries
Replaced Llyon with Talbot

9 days later Traded for Debrincat (still have)
6 weeks later traded for Petry (bad move)

November signed Kane.

So the wings made 4 decently sized moves from july1- mid November
They already made 1 with Talbot.
If they make 3 more transactions between now and the deadline that will be similar to last year

I think they have a little bit over 5 million thats including moe and Raymond. My guess is Yzerman is still on Trouba rader and thats around that ball park of the money they have left. But no matter what on paper today their not as good

If Veleno and Berggren take around $1m aav
And Raymond and Seider take $8m AAV.

They will have 19 active (assuming Berggren is still 2 way)
That leaves around $6m in cap space for the last 4 roster spots.

Say you elevate 3 cheap players.

Thats around $3.5m in space for that last addition.

So someone has to be bought out or traded

Problem is neither sieder or Raymond are worth that much. Mo had a not good year. Took Raymond 2 months to get going. 6 million each

Raymond is on the same development arch as some of the modern greats, ovi, crosby etc. hes getting better and better every game.

Seider had a bad year sure, but he got put up against other teams number 1 player. Thats tough for any player let alone a young developing player. Mo is STILL one of the youngest NHL player let alone 1st liners. Theres just no one to help him. Thats why ive been slamming the table to get a good defender (preferably RHD) to help him out.

Both of those guys are definitely worth a 6 year 8m contract. Especially with how much the cap is going to go up the next 3 years as rumored.

Looks like Trouba may not be going anywhere this year.

His wife has a year left on her residency at a NY hospital…
and they just had their first child.

His full “no trade clause” was originally meant to make sure he couldn’t be traded until his wife completed her residency…
but that program was delayed a year (possibly Covid related).

Any team that trades for him has to lnow he won’t be happy about it,
and he still has a partial no trade clause that allowed him to submit 15 teams he can block. There are fewer than 20 teams with enough cap space to take on his salary (even with Rangers retaining $2.5 million)… so it looks like this deal isn’t happening.
