Report: Vikings will pay Brian Flores more than $6 million per year

Florio strikes again. How do you resolve these two statements in the article:

  1. Because coaching slaries are not transparent, its impossible to know with certainty how much any given coach makes.
  2. Flores is now the highest paid coordinator in the league.

How does that guy stay on the air?

He deserves that kind of pay.

Florio is horrible but at least he had a source on this one. So somebody else pulled it out of their butt first.

But that doesn’t square with my pre-conceived notion on the article!

I wouldn’t put it past Florio to fake or embellish a source. So I clicked his link. It was legit.

Would be the smartest thing the Vikings have done in quite some time.

They are paying Hockenson 17 mill a year. You think he is worth almost three times more than Flores? I don’t think so.

Absolutely. BJ was worth $6M to the Lions, right? If you ignore Jamo’s pass…

If he’s gonna have a contact anywhere, it will be with the Vikings.

This is an organization that is committed to winning. While the Lions try and make fans believe that Shep is a competent NFL DC .

For the most part I agree, but only because the league is how it is.

When we had an experienced center/line and Ben, we tore through his defense. Everyone remember that? In 4 consecutive games we hit 31, 31, 30 and 30. Why?

To me, it’s because he relies on confusion to an almost gimmicky level. When he’s unable to trick an offense, it’s all just smoke and mirrors. The Cardinals were sort of like that too, a lot of cool stuff, but in the end what were they hoping to accomplish?

Compare that with MacDonald/Minter who use plenty of confusion as part of their schemes, but only in an effort to disguise a super smart way to attack certain offensive formations.

This year Flores killed us with it, because we went from very experienced in those areas to very inexperienced. We saw what happened. Even an experienced QB couldn’t cover for it, you have to have OL who can make quick decisions while the play is live, and preferably a guy in their midst leading the charge.

Frank’s brain is as missed as his ability to get to the second level.

Head coaches are now making in the 10-20 million range. A good coordinator is definitely worth 6 million. That’s not saying Flores is the best coordinator in the league, but if you want to retain a coordinator that’s fair value.

Set the market

Completely agree. Almost every team has a defensive player making 20 plus million per year. The coaches deserve good pay too if they are a good at the job.

Yep, no cap on coach’s salaries… Never understood going cheap on a coach

It’s actually kinda weird when you think about it. The Lions have about 15 players making more than Dan Campbell for example. Just an estimate but you get the idea.

It’s way worse in the NBA and MLB

Does that make Flores the highest paid coordinator in the NFL? I had heard most don’t make anywhere near 6 million a year so was curious.

More than likely… Some head coaches probably barely make that… McDaniel was making 4.5 million until his extension in 2024
