Rich and injured get richer and injureder- Blake Snell 5/182 Dodgers

Bet it ages better than 8/240 with Miggy.

.253 9 hr 61 rbi a year for that extension. One season over 100 OPS+.

Skub will pitch ages 30-37 on a 8 yr extension, or ages 28- 35 on a pay boost for 2 yrs of control and 6 years of FA bought.

Just so hard to predict giving pitchers long term deals. Skubal was unreal last year. But how many times in his career has he made 30 starts? Once?

There is definitely risk, if the Tigers trade him they better get a kings ransom.
I’m not sure Tiger fans would understand, just another nail in the Chris Ilitch coffin that some have 3/4’s built.

Seriously this free agency in mlb is boring as watching paint dry… I guess once Soto signs, the dominos will start falling.

Meh, who needs starting pitchers.

I didn’t expect the A’s to spend money. Most money they have ever spent

Well, Severino 3 years, Sacramento 3 years.

$67m may be more than they gate the first 2 years. It’s more than their annual team payroll 6 of the last 10 years

Also,

Pay Skub Now.

21-22m a year for Kikuchi and Severino?

It’s crazy. Kikuchi has a few moments here and there. But he’s been a career 4.60 era type, best as a 4th or 5th back of the rotation guy. For 20+ mill per season is wild.

I want the Tigers to add this year, but I’d rather do nothing, than to sign those pitchers to those contracts.

Bregman is going to be about that much AAV, plays everyday and for sure will contribute more.

Right. Spending just to spend is stupid. Next thing you know you got a Maeda contract all over again.

Just to show that I am being consistent this will also age very, very poorly.

First half of the contract could be fine but age 33 on is going to suck.

Wow… These deals are crazy.

The dollar value is fine. But 8 years is so stupid.

That’s only 2 years of a 7 year deal for ages 29-35, which isnt a bad risk. Also, age 34-35 for middle infielders with pop is often at least palatable if they dont have to move off ss or 2nd.

He had a dip in 23, where it looks like from the swing/results he sold out a bit to the pull side for power, and ended up making a lot more outs. Hit 31 in 22, 24 in 23 and 32 in 24.

I like that deal better than the Correa and (obviously) Baez and Story deals from the Big SS class 3 years ago.

26m a year isn’t terrible. You get the back end of his peak, and 1-2 of his prime.

Yeah, it’s not toxic like that Correa deal. I just hate that it’s 8 years.

Am I missing an option year? Says 7 above

The 2nd tier power guys are poppin’…Soto decision made or guys just getting deals done?

I like him, not sure he was a fit here

You’re right. My bad. That makes me hate it a bit less. Maybe they’ll be slightly more mediocre than they’re recent degree of mediocrity…
