Rich and injured get richer and injureder- Blake Snell 5/182 Dodgers

So,
Snell
Yamamoto
Ohtani
Gonsolin
Glasnow
with Kershaw probably doing a Clemens
Oh and maybe Dustin May and Emmett Sheehan and Gavin Stone.

Blergh. At least they only have 3 MVPs on offense.

I wonder if this takes the Dodgers out of the Roki Sasaki sweepstakes.

For what it’s worth, I’d take Sasaki over Snell, especially considering the price. I also think the Tigers have a fair shot to land him because of their reputation to develop pitchers (which is very important to him)

Maybe. Gonsolin is no lock to repeat his 2023, his only good year. Kershaw is maybe a 100 inning guy and May is Gonsolin only he hasnt repeated his good year(21?) after injury. Glasnow is a walking medical experiment.

Sasaki could easily drop in there because he will be dirty dirt dirt cheap too.

I’d love LOVE Sasaki here, but SF makes a lot of sense for him as far as development, large Japanese population, good park to pitch in etc.

Also, he wants to be The Man where he goes…in LA he is 3rd starter, well, 4th. Giants have Webb, and a developing Kyle Harrison but Sasaki has better stuff.

I think Sasaki will stay on the left coast. I could see the Angels in play after signing Kikuchi.

In this starting pitching game of musical chairs, here are the best available:
Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, Walker Buehler, Garrett Crochet, Jack Flaherty, Nathan Eovaldi, Shane Bieber, Sean Manaea, Luis Severino.
Teams seeking SP: Mets (at least 2), Boston 2, Orioles 2, Phillies, Braves, Giants, Tigers, Cubs, etc., etc.

It’s a great year to be a free agent starting pitcher.

We should sign Corbin Burnes just to ■■■■ with teams.

Imagine…Skubal day 1…Burnes day 2…

So sick of the Dodgers just buying all the players and then deferring contacts. They have an all star at every position pretty much.

In 9 seasons, Snell has hit 130 innings only twice. So good chance he misses at least half of those 5 seasons. Tons of talent though

Snell is a 5 and dive guy

Ohtani won’t get deep into games this year.

Mookie going back to infield, Edman probably CF.

They have an OF to sign, which may be just re-signing Teoscar. Probably a reliever or two as well

Kinda sounds college sports now. They really dont need help. I still think they sign Adames.

The Mets and free agent right-hander Frankie Montas have reportedly agreed to a two-year, $34MM deal that contains an opt-out clause for Montas following the 2025 season. Montas will earn $17MM in both the 2025 and 2026 seasons. The contract will become official when the Boras Corporation client passes a physical.

The Cubs have agreed with left-hander Matthew Boyd on a two-year deal that will guarantee him $29MM, per a report from Jon Heyman of the New York Post. The deal includes $1MM in performance bonuses that could take the total guarantee to $30MM over two years.

17m a year for a guy who after a few injury shortened years posted a 4.84 ERA and a 14% HR/Fly Ball rate…but pitched 150 innings.

Skub is going to ask for more years and more AAV than Snell got (5 and 37). Like 8/320. Easy.

Happy Boyd got paid 15/yr. Happy it wasn’t us.

We.gonna go hunt for The Next Flaherty, but the competition will be fierce.

Several teams are involved with Buehler

Then we need to shake it up, baby!

TBF, Martinez signed the Qualifying Offer, no negotiations

Lesson here is dont pay for #3 or 4 starters.

1.Pay Stud #1
2.Have young guys on first 6 year control
3.Take injury reclamation shots.
4.

Crazy money for a lot of mediocre pitchers there. Snell is legit if healthy.

Don’t do it. Won’t age well.
