RIP Mickey Lolich

Hero of the 1968 World Series. One of the first players that I was aware of on the Tigers. Gone at age 85.

Rest in peace, Mister Lolich.

Thanks for the memories. 1968 of course comes to mind first. What a time to be a Tigers fan. 31 wins for Denny Mclain, and your 3 complete game wins to capture the World Series that year. 2 feats that will never happen again in major league baseball. A byegone era, that’s for sure.

Honestly the way that guy lived im shocked he made it to 85. If you put a gun to my head i wouldve bet he was long gone. Good for him.

Retired as the MLB all time leader in K for a LHP.

Is still #5 45 years later (Unit Carlton CC Kershaw)

Winning 3 of the 4 Tigers WS games was unreal in 1968. Not sure there are too many in that conversation.

are you mixing him up with McLain, who once claimed to routinely drink 20 cokes a day?

I’ll always remember him as the #2 starter. But sometimes #2 can be clutch. I think he pitched on two days rest for the seventh game of the WS and beat the invincible Bob Gibson. Thank-you Mr. Lolich for giving me a thrill I’ll always remember.

And drink like a fish, but outlived Earl Wilson Sparma and now Lolich?

Glad we still got Willie. 10 left from that WS team including a 97 yr old Elroy Face!

One of the greatest and most underrated feats in my 6 decades of watching sports was Mickey Lolich’s 1968 WS performance.

That was a great Cardinals team.

And I am not even a Tgers fan.

yep you’re right I was mixing him up with Denny. My bad!

As a long time Cardinal fan I remember him well. I did not realize he was not in the HOF what a tragedy that he was not voted in before he passed.
