I agree. I wasn’t cheering for him, but I did want to see a full season of his special brand of crazy. I believe he would have crashed and burned in any case. But I wouldn’t wish this type of ending for him.

I was kind of looking forward to hearing about how he got back in touch with his inner spirits after the Jets’ first loss by spending the week afterwards huffing superglue while trying to find his way out of an abandoned mineshaft.

The Jets could have kept fan interest going by having a Groundhog Day type event where Aaron goes into darkness every February and emerges to see if he’s made love to completion with his inner asshole.

The hardest thing for Rodgers will not be the rehab or the FOMO of a potential playoff run.
It will be his becoming irrelevant. After a few days everyone will mostly have moved on. Sure, he’ll get mentions on broadcasts as they discuss whatever happens with the Jets. But he will go from being the center of the football universe (in his mind) to a mere footnote.
