Rogers with an Achilles injury

Plus Rodgers assembled that offense in his image. His best friend was the OC, he lured Darvon Cook there and brought Cobb and Lazard there. It was Rodgers’ dream scenario where he had total control of the offense for the first time in his career.

On grass his heel would have released and slipped out. On that turf it stuck in place causing the ankle to bend in an achilles snapping manner.

Awesome

Sooo we can trade up TWICE in round 2 next year with Green Bay

They got us Brian Branch already

Can’t wait to see who’s next

They should just promote him to a coaching role so that they can still get some value.

I’m not sure that coaching is in his skill set

It looked similar to achilles injuries that have occurred on grass. I see nothing about that play that is “turf specific.”

An unfortunate turn of events. **

Tell that to Joe Theismann.

Agree to disagree.

Do you think for the rest of his career LT went around wishing QBs good luck by saying, “Break a leg.” I could totally see him doing that.

Dr. David Chao was just on McAfee talking about the turf. He said he is absolutely for grass fields and that they clearly overall lead to lower incidence of injury but in this case it was at best a very minor influence on this injury.

In his opinion the reasons for the injury, in order of importance, were:

1:) the way Floyd landed on him while his foot was planted
2:) that Rodgers was just recovering from a calf strain (be careful Joe Burrow)
3:) his advanced age

Shannon Sharp argues that he held onto the ball for too long. I’m not an expert, but I did see his point.

And still credited with the victory. That’s how dumb the win/loss stat is for QB’s.

The JETS are going to feel the hurt of Rodgers cap hit. I think his career is over. He was guaranteed 75M. They still owe him 66M Think he gives any of it back?

They could release him as a post-June 1 cut, to avoid a big 2024 hit, but they’d have to carry $49 million in dead money on their 2025 salary cap . If they did that, they would still carry $17.1 million in dead money in 2024.

Manning brothers react in real time to the Rodgers injury.

Peyton had a pretty strong reaction to Rodgers being loaded on the cart at the end of the video.

I don’t totally disagree with the notion that turf results in more injuries than grass.
But Rodgers’ injury Monday in no way was due to turf. If it was grass, he’d be wearing cleats instead of turf shoes and his foot would have stuck the same way.
But I also think that today’s bigger and faster athletes have just as much, if not more, to do with injury rates than the playing surface.

Really question is how the team the Jets react to this will be such a huge deal here. Very high expectations.
