I’m shocked… /s

Oh My God Reaction GIF

I think his time in the NFL is up. Many fans were upset that the Lions signed Monty over him. Had a solid career and should be proud.

This past season was the pits. He was rarely used. A walk-on could have did what he did.

To be fair they were at the time.

Jamaal as assistant rb coach and hilarious coach. Hard guy not to like…

People on this board were lamenting the fact that we gave more money to Montgomery than Williams got from the Saints. Not everyone, but I would say a majority of fans were disappointed that Jamaal wasn’t coming back.

I was disappointed. The guy was a huge part of the culture shift in Detroit. He was also entertaining and productive.

At the same time I was very happy that we signed Dmont to replace him. On a talent level I felt like we upgraded.

With the PS rules
I wouldn’t count a return to Detroit out

I don’t think his nfl career is out of options

Or perhaps NY

Solid locker room leader who could help AG or Ben get their locker room in order

Jamaal is a batter ram RB. I am not even sure I would call him a 1 cut guy. He runs super hard and straight ahead. He was a goal line demon but he left a ton of yards on the field when asked to actually be a RB and run holes and make cuts. DMont was a HUGE upgrade.

I do think JW has a spot in the NFL. He has a skill set. Great locker room guy, and runs crazy hard and hits the hole/line with energy. The issue I think he light have is salary. Say the Lions take him to get those 1 yard runs and relieve Dmont of his batter ram duties. How much is that worth and is he a better option than CR or Vaki?

He has a very good rep in the NFL and I think he will end up on a team looking to work on culture. Watch for him for sure to show up in Chicago or with the Jets. I do not see him as a fit for the Lions but he has some tread left IMO.

That’s inaccurate. Most fans supported the move from what I remember. I was one of the fans who didn’t like the move, but it was only a few of us.

Not me. I thought he was overrated. Left a ton of yards on the field. Benefited from an unusual number of 1st and goal at the one and though his attitude was funny and sometimes endearing. I thought it was a little attention seeking and distracting from what we were building

I was bummed that Williams left right up until we signed Monty. At that point I happily shared the news of the signing with my Bears fan wife and enjoyed her response immensely.

I thought he was good for the culture and the locker room

And … that looks to be wrong as Brad and Dan were willing to “over pay” him

Suggesting he was not a distraction.
