Risdon predicted, based upon what he’s heard around the league, that Lomu will fall out of the 1st. He said he likes him though and its almost like he is flipped on Lomu and Proctor having Lomu top 20ish and Proctor like 60s or something on his board.
My favorite guy is Max, but I think Miller would help us out of the gate a little faster. Lomu I see as more of a LT.
I have Miller ranked the highest of those three pretty comfortably, so that’s where I’d go. Most importantly I think he’d be the one our FO liked the most. He just approaches the game like a Lion.
If we hadn’t already signed the great Borom I’d say Miller hands down. I think with Borom in place it makes Max more appealing to me. I think 2 or 3 years down the road he could be the best OT in this class.
He’d be my second choice but I think Miller’s ultimate ceiling is just as high really. There’s more of a mystery box quality to Max, but I feel like because he’s come so far in so little time technically, people are sort of glossing over how far he still has to go mentally. And some guys never get there. Miller already has that side of things, which makes me a lot more comfortable.
Its an interesting year. All of these guys have a weird combination of upside and flaws. It could be that I’m really focusing on OT for the first time in quite a while, but the class doesn’t seem normal to me in that way. Like, I actually like Proctor a lot and think that his run blocking actually gets overlooked because people are focusing on his pass pro concerns. Same with Max in other ways. Like yeah, he had some issues in the Senior Bowl, but what I was impressed about is how he competed and improved each day in the practices. It shows you he has a way to go, but also that he is teachable and has the ability to catch on quick. Lomu and Miller, like they were saying, have some issues with strength but both are athletic. Fanu has the shorter arms but I really like everything else about him. I feel just like I did last year where I have absolutely no clue what is going to happen. I think there is a good chance we pass altogether on OT. I could see them just saying F it and drafting McCoy lol
Decker was my #1 target at 16 when we drafted him. If we think there is an OT that can step in and fill his shoes for the next 10 years, you draft him.
If we simply commit to trading down right now, there is no doubt it’s possible…
I’m not saying I love or hate any of these guys but-
Bailey, Bain, Downs, Reese, Styles, Mauigoa, and MAYBE Faulk or McCoy is the list of guys I could see us LOVING…. I’m leery on Bains arms, McCoys knee, and Faulks 25’ tape.. but I could see the allure
Otherwise? Fano, Vega, Miller, Max, Proctor, Miller, TJ Parker, Lawrence, Jacas, C Johnson etc…. I’d take one of these guys and an extra 2nd or 3rd…
Hell i would trade down twice and get to around #26… add a 3rd and then maybe a 4th.
