Round 1

I would have no problem if Ioane was our selection at 17. I would also have no problem trading down with the Chargers so they can select him. I don’t want to take a lesser player just because he plays OT or DE.

I don’t either. It’s just the way I have them graded Ioane is often the lesser player. I have him above Proctor, Iheanachor and Lomu, but none of the other tackles (he’s one spot behind Miller for me). I do have him above Faulk, but not Bain or Bailey. I also personally have him below Ponds and Kyle Louis, and I’ve got Tiernan one spot behind him, though I know I’m an outlier there.

And while he has a very similar overall grade to Avila, that still puts him 21st overall in this class. So 17 wouldn’t be a terrible reach, even though I’m sure to have someone ranked higher.

I’m surprised you don’t like Lomu more if you like lineman doing cool things on the move. He looks awesome out in space attacking the second level. Looks so good in pass pro too. Just gets absolutely zero push in the run game. Doesn’t seem to get pushed back a ton, but get’s no movement at all. I wonder what he would look like after two years in an NFL weight room, or if there is just nothing more there.

I like the movement stuff for sure, but you’re right I worry he’s just never gonna have the base to really thrive in the league. He’s too high cut and doesn’t have much junk in the trunk, and I don’t know that he’ll ever be able to get there with his build. I also think he plays a pretty finesse game. Fano’s thin and has some of the same issues, but he does not play a finesse game. He’s trying to bury guys, he just has his issues doing it.

I picked Max weeks ago in the draft post. Nothing has changed my mind. If Lions take Miller i will not hate the pick I just think Max at ROT an Pene at LOT we are set for many years.

We took a Georgia oline guy in rd 2 last year. I expect them to take one in rd one this year. Freeling will be the pick

If he’s there I hope you’re right

I would have no problem with that, but I prefer Miller and more importantly (at least when it comes to prediction), I think our FO will too. One skipped his bowl game, one didn’t. That’s probably harsh on Max and I don’t think it will actually be a check in the ‘cons’ column or anything, but he won’t get the check in the ‘pros’ column Miller will for playing in his despite the season being a bust. We all remember from when they drafted Sam and Jack and waxed poetic about it how much that matters to them.

Plus his summary literally says “needs more grit” - is that a guy you see Brad selecting in the middle of round 1? Not me.

I think the Lions fall into this camp don’t you?

If you prioritize OL as an organization, and as a foundation of your football team - this feels like a really, really solid path forward

So he missed meaning Max does missing mean the likely second rd pick who never worked out does he get lowered big time since he missed almost everything except interviews. just asking when you select based on one check mark LOL

Like I said I like Max over Miller but will not put down either over a check mark. I mean the likely first OT off board had a medical flag does that count as a check mark. He redid whatever the medical flag was an he was cleared do we erase the check mark or do we go best of 3 test LOL

I’m just trying to predict what the FO will do, based on what they’ve done in the past.
