RT Borom

I see a lot people that worry about this guy and think we need a 1st RD pick to replace him, but Larry is a better player now then Mogs, I’m way more worried about Mogs then Borom. Borom will not get Goff killed and can keep him safe. Mogs may get Goff killed with his pass blocking. If Goff goes down the season become very difficult. I would love to see a guy like Fano playing next to sewell. I think Fano would be great there and our Oline would dominate, I don’t see any Rookie RT coming in and being better then Borom starting out, especially pass blocking.

Now I can see a guy like Freeling a LT keeping Sewell were he is the best player in the game.

If Mogs get to practice and play between Sewell and Mays all year I think he’s going look a lot better. But I hear what you are saying.

Agreed. Obviously, we hope the Borom who played quite well at RT over the last 11 games so is the one we get, and w/a 1-year contract he has plenty of incentive to play his best.

In nothing else, he should be a better swing OT than Skip was.

You beat me to it, brother

Massive difference between playing with continuity, especially between good players… And playing with scrubs.

This year‘s offensive line will look much better… And if I am to be truthful… I hope we get

ot, if all things are considered equal

Maybe Loane V makes more sense than a Rt.

The other thing is that Mahogs has competition this year. Bartch was a bit better than avg last year, according to PFF, and way better than CM. If Frazier stays healthy and worked on his body and craft this offseason, he should mount a real push for the job.

In any case, I’m hopeful that least one will give us at least decent play w/good-great, physical players on either side.

Didn’t Frazier take most of the season to get healthy? Could he make a big jump this off-season?

It’s hard to judge anything from Mahogany last year. He was basically on an island between a busted Decker and a busted Glasgow.

Sure Fano sounds great…but everything I’ve seen is that he won’t be around.

There is plenty of competition at LG to bring out a really solid player there. I’m not nearly as worried about LG as I am RT. As of right now, it’s Borom and maybe Frazier and that’s it. Something has to be added there and honestly guard is probably set for now.

I badly want OT round 1. But if we wait and get one of the several day 3 guys I’m not gonna jump off a ledge as this team is pretty loaded. But I still stand by the stance that it would be a really dumb gamble after what happened last year. Especially since pick 17 seems more and more likely to be a BPA or the ideal landing spot for tackles to start/finish going. We couldn’t be in a better spot to fill our most important need in a weak draft.

If Reese, Bailey, Bain, Downs, Delane, or Styles don’t fall…I just don’t see how the pick isn’t OT.

This.

We also have Juice Scruggs. Not saying he’s the favorite or anything crazy - but a former 2nd rounder who we clearly like.

This is where I’ve landed as well.

I feel like Frazier is this huge wild card right? Like will he compete for the starting LG position? Will he fight to start at RT? Or will he play a bit of both, plus special teams, and be the extra OL you keep active on game day because he can do a bit of everything? Will he even be any good lol. I mean he was drafted higher than Mahogs was. He’s just this massive wildcard that we know almost nothing about really.

It really does feel that way to me too.

This is why I think Vega would be an outstanding pick if he is there. Him next to Sewell would be a dominant left side, I have no problem with Borom at RT for this year.

Sewell
Vega
Mays
Ratledge
Borom

Yeah I’ll take that all day long!

Many good points have been made on both accords, but I think the real consideration is “which guy will be a very good to GREAT player in the NFL?

Branch
Mahogany
Borom
Joseph
Wonnum
Barnes
McCreary

When you consider that those are our bottom 6 projected starters (for varying reasons)… it’s actually pretty confidence inspiring!

Consider only Joseph is a stud in a multi year deal, Mahogany/Barnes have 2 years left but hasn’t proven starter worthy, and Branch is a real wildcard given he’s a stud, but he may miss half the year and he’s in his final year…

Because of the data above it feels like Borom and McCreary, and Wonnum naturally feel like the guys we most desperately need to supplement and replace given their track records and their contract terms.

It should come down to this…

  • Vega/Pregnon/Bisontis

  • Theineman/McMeill-Warren/Haulcy

  • Fano/Freeling/Miller

  • Ponds/K Scott/Abney

  • Rodriguez/K Louis/J Golday

  • Faulk/Parker/Lawrence/Jacas

The real question isn’t what we need to FIX MOST… it’s which of these above players are most sure to fix where we need help

No Frazier in the list?

Agree 100% on Frazier ….

Or maybe it was a busted LG that help make there play drop off some. As bad as Decker and Glasgow were Mogs was even worse , in fact Deckers play was much better playing beside a broken Glasgow and Glasgow play was better playing next to Decker, both there play drop off when they played next to Mogs and his 40 pass blocking grade. It’s a wonder Goff made it through the season.

Expecting him to be good because he is next to Sewell who is moveng also. Is pretty fluffy view. I mean Mogs could make Sewell move even harder. And I know the know it all’s will say no problem Sewell is the greatest. But his move could take time adjust. And playing next to Mogs will make it even harder.

It reminds me of last year when most of these same posters said the same thing about Morton being OC, he designed the offense, we have Dan , Ben wasn’t that good. We will be fine. Lol

There is no guarantees in pro sports and things change fast and even small things can change everything. To bet your season on a guy to get that much better because of Sewell seems like a bad plan . Dude feet is stuck in the mud and can’t pass block that 40 may come back to ruin our season.

Same fans making the same promises .

I think most who think Mahogs will improve are not disagreeing on his poor 2025 performance but more on how he looked in a small sample size in 2024 playing next to healthy or better OL mates.

But, book is still an INC on him for sure.
