I wonder if they could put a lawsuit together that shows how the lottery system (being rigged) absolutely ■■■■■■ over the SLC economy for the next 15-20 years?
Shit is absolutely rigged.

Shit is absolutely rigged.
You mean the international entertainment company NBA ?
100% Dude.
This happened with the Pistons a few times recently. Wembanyama to San Antonio? The Spurs always seem to be the league’s darling. David Robinson gets hurt and they get to draft Tim Duncan to pair with him. Bullshit.
I think they should do away with the lottery and instead base the draft order on a 3 year average. Yes a team could still tank but it would be a multi year effort, which is less likely. At least it would stop this crap where a decent team gets an unbelievable gift. We’ve seen it before where a team’s superstar gets injured, they tank, get the #1OA, the star returns and voila, they have another 12 year run. IMO this is not how the draft order should ever be decided. The worst teams should get the highest draft picks…not the teams with a one year spate of bad luck.
I am okay with the lottery system. They just need to be transparent and honest with it. The Lakers won the right to draft Magic Johnson due to a coin flip, where the teams were ON THE PHONE with the league office. They just had to trust that the Lakers won the flip, because that’s what they were told happened.
A small part of me is okay with a little rigging, sadly enough. There are some franchises that suck, and can’t properly allow a young star to shine…or become the best version of himself. I fully expected the league to rig the Zion draft, and send him to the Lakers. He would have been better off for it. Instead he was “allowed” to go to New Orleans, which has been a disaster. Living in LA and living in New Orleans has a completely different food culture, amongst the residents. We might have seen the leanest and best version of Zion in LA. Instead we got the bloated, always injured guy who knocks up porn stars. In LA they would have better equipped him for how to bang out porn stars without getting them pregnant.
I get your point, but when you’re the Lakers, and you already have Hollywood opportunities AND the league putting their thumb on the scale in just about every circumstance, I don’t need them getting the best draft picks all the time as well. Yes New Orleans pelicans are bad. But you have to give them an equal opportunity to be good. Otherwise you have no league. Is it fair for the number two pick then to have gone on to New Orleans and have his career ruined potentially? Also, Zion was pretty big already coming into the league and I think he would’ve just gotten bigger no matter where he was at. I predicted he would have many injuries based on his weight and how much pressure he puts on his joints.
Not so long ago, you could’ve made the same argument against Milwaukee and Cleveland. Milwaukee didn’t get there necessarily because of a top overall pick, but more so that they got lucky with Giannis. But it still proves the point that they became a viable franchise once they got the right player. I would rather they keep it fair and let the chips fall where they may. The best run franchisees will find a way.
Trade Luka to LA and we will give you the number one pick. 1.8 chance of the number one pick.
The 70s were the nadir shitshow in NBA history. NBA finals werent even on TV, it was tape delay at 11pm. Half the league was coked to the gills, and the best players of the 70s were pretty firgettable after Prime Kareem (old Wilt , Elgin and West), Dr J was in the ABA. Havlichek? Boring.
TheNBA ended up paying the shady plaid suit small town weasel owners of the ABA Spirits of St. Louis they contracted what ended up being almost 800 million (Billions and billions today) over 40 years to not join The League. Crazy story.
Magic and Bird most likely saved the NBA from contracting, folding or at least looking like something that would be incomprable to the 21st Century NBA.
I discussed a lottery system with my friends where you could tank and the lotto went to 5, but if you won the lotto and moved up, you could not move up for 2 additional years. So basically tanking would be about 1/3 as much.
They got to fix the lottery. The worst teams fall way too often so it becomes hard for these organizations to improve.
Actually makes me curious. If you eliminated the lotto and went by actual record, maybe 5 teams max would tank.
Lottery of 6 teams. Bottom 4 get 20% chance, next two get 10%.
If 5 or 6 get the top pick, they are lottery ineligible for 2 years. Best they can pick is 7.
If top pick falls 1-4, whoever gets it is lottery ineligible for 1 year. Best they can pick is 7.
There is an issue with trades already made for picks that occur in 2026-2030 or 31 I think. Some future 1st rd pick trades are lottery or deep lottery range protected, so you may have to do something in those cases. Or not.
The 4 worst teams should face off in a euchre tournament. Winner gets the first pick.
Signals and tabletalk to a new level!
They will sign Connor Stalions.
SURPRISE….I actually agree with you on this!
Also none of these damn rules like Ace No Face, Farmers Hand and Partners Best. Mah Sweeties family plays that shit and it drives me crazy.
Stick the Dealer, straight real Euchre onky!
YES!
Sleeps with… He never knocked one up… Living in SoCal is not going to stop young celebrities from sleeping with whores lol quite the opposite… Jimmy Garoppolo says hello but you’re right that some franchises don’t know how to handle a star, but I don’t blame the city. Did Dallas mismanage Luka? Do you think he’ll be better in LA now? Or is it more about the player and their habits? I think there’s a case for both sides.
