I like those guys. Love how they say the lions fans pay the bills haha.

I like that Steve is not easily impressed or swayed. I do hope that one day I see him bust out into a belly laugh instead of his trademark smirk, perhaps while he and Sam are reviewing the collective implosions of Da Bears, the CheezWhiz, and the Viqueens.

I love Steve. He just seems like such a good dude. Plus he was a SFGianfs farmhand. Sam is mostly great but that one has some hubris to him IMO.

I still think neither one is as nuanced on our loss of Ben as they should be. I don’t fault them - that’s basically the national narrative at this point - but about the only national guy I see saying anything about it actually being Dan’s offense is Brett Whitefield, and I’m pretty sure he’s a Lions fan:

We might very well feel the loss of Ben quite harshly, but to not even have it in the range of outcomes that we don’t feels really shortsighted.

Love Steve too, but let’s be real here. He’s got a mafioso last name. They made Hoffa into sausages.

I didn’t think they offered any new insights into the team. Really a case of regurgitating uninformed national narratives.

This is my biggest issue with national Lions coverage. Do they think Dan was just there by Sean Payton’s side for half a decade learning nothing about offensive football?

Yes, apparently.

It’s so weird bc I think Sam is plenty smart enough to avoid such inane opinions. Is it just the time crunch due to league wide coverage requirements?

Oops. Brain fart. I mixed up Sam (Monson) and Steve (Palazzolo). I’ve done that before. When I said Sam, I meant Steve and vice versa.

I don’t know. I generally think he is too, but man not about this. I think perhaps the love for Ben Johnson amongst media types got a touch out of hand and they are not recognizing that both things can be true: Dan can be the mastermind and Ben can be really good at implementing his design.

Case point…… at 6:30 of the video… Steve asks…

“Without Ben Johnson…do they lose any of their identity… the disrespectful runs… 3rd and 6… we’re just gonna run inside zone to Jahmyr Gibbs……… are there any things that Ben Johnson brings out the door that just won’t be there anymore???”

.

.

Well…… geez… let’s look back at 2021… in the 2nd game that Dan started calling plays…. and what do we see???

.

3rd and 8 to go…. from shotgun even… and inside zone run….

.
for a 57-yard TD run.

.

Ben Johnson did NOT create this offense.

That is such a crazy narrative IMO.

I’m shocked that we don’t hear more about David Shaw being added as the passing game coordinator. I’ve always liked him and the relationship he has with Morton is big I believe.
