Sam Darnold favored to win SB mvp

My god. What does that say about the organizations and coaching staffs that “he failed” along the way?

Weapons for Joey? More like competent leadership for Joey.

That’s Kwesi….

My money is on JSN… I bet Darnold throws a couple picks

I hope he does. I always like underdogs. I always like players the mob throws away long before they should.

Darnold was drafted by a bad team. As most QB’s on bad teams do, he struggled. He was then tagged with the bust label and hasn’t been able to shake it since.

He quietly and humbly moved forward with his career and has more than shown now that he’s a good enough QB to drive a winning team. Nevertheless, the mob continues to refer to him as trash or a bust.

I hope he wins it all.

Nothing would make me laugh harder.

Minny fans have already kicked Kwesi to the curb so not much more can be done.

Even if he wins the SB (I mean the Seahawks), it’s not in large part to Sam Darnold. He is far from top 10 in this league at the position. And if 32 teams were taking guys moving forward, he’s outside the top 15, maybe 20. He’s a game manager…and when he doesn’t manage a game, they lose. He’s at his best when he’s asked to not lose it rather then go win it.

this SB is disgusting lol. Lions, 49ers, Packers, even the Commanders were all devastated by injuries all season long. Half the NFC true contenders weren’t real threats because of this. Only real playoff competition were the eagles and rams. The AFC was even weaker…for many of the same reasons.

Seahawks are a complete team. What they have proven is that a mediocre/decent QB can win a SB with a great team and a lot of luck. He didn’t even play particularly well this season and they are in the SB.

I don’t recall a SB in which both teams were near consensus outside top 10 teams going into the season. I don’t even know if either were real playoff caliber teams going in.

It looks like Sam had a pretty significant contribution. He has limitations in terms of mobility and pass protection but so does Goff.

This is exactly what I’m talking about. Some just can’t give Darnold (or other good players once labeled a bust) their flowers. Meanwhile, Darnold is 14-3 in regular season play in both of the last 2 seasons.

Vikings were 7-10 the year before he arrived and went 9-8 when he left.

Seattle was 10-7 before he arrived and is now heading to the Super Bowl.

We can cherry pick any stats or any angle we want when we look at a QB. The bottom line is Darnold is winning and the offenses he’s led have put up great numbers while doing so.

How much winning would Darnold need to do before he’s considered a “good enough” QB to not be called (insert bust/trash type adjective here).

Darnold like Goff is an average-slightly below average starting QB that’s in a great situation. Peyton Manning could barely throw the ball 10 years and still win a superbowl with the Broncos.

Darnold is not special at all.

Makes you wonder about A LOT of QBs who got the bust label.

We’ve seen Goff and Mayfield resurrect their careers in a similar fashion.

Leaf, Harrington, Lynch, Rosen, David Carr, Lance, etc. I know it won’t apply to all, but there’s a case to be made that there was considerable talent squandered because of impatient dipshits.

It wasn’t always that way. Aikman threw 18 interceptions his first two years and was barely passable as an NFL QB in his third.

Teams most definitely ruin young qb’s at times by throwing them into the fire at 21 years old before they are ready and then give up on them after a couple seasons. It’s a results based business but a little patience goes along ways.

Look how fast the 49ers gave up on Lance. Or the Titans with Malik, who looks good for the Packers. JJ has looked terrible but giving up now after 10 starts would be dumb for the Vikes.

I’m truly confused at how someone can say Sam Darnold isn’t highly responsible for the Seahawks success.

Because some of us actually understand the QB position and that he is nothing more than a game manager.

I mean the Niners gave up on Lance because he sucks. He has never had another opportunity to start anywhere because he sucks. So… the Niners are just supposed to hold onto him even though he sucks because they drafted him 3rd overall? What a strange post.

I was just giving examples… Settle down dude. All you wanna do is argue.

Yeah…. You’re a strange one

Malik, Baker, Darnold, Goff all were given up. Sometimes it’s a bad move and sometimes it’s the right move with guys like Lance. But Lance also got seriously hurt before he got chance.

Strange cause I don’t argue and insult people. I guess that makes me strange

It’s a football message board and you are crying because I responded to your post… really strange just like I said. You probably should put me on ignore you are really sensitive.

Darnold has played like a top 10 QB the last couple years. People get too hung up on reputations and media narratives. The league is fluid and things change. As of today Darnold is a plus QB. Stats and results prove such.

Is Darnold why Seattle is successful? No, the Seahawks have a very complete well coached team. But Darnold is responsible for giving them above average QB play that helped put Seattle in the big game.

Lions need to be like Seattle. Play complimentary football.

Lol. The only QB to throw more picks in the last 2 years than Darnold is Geno Smith. Top 10 QB :joy:
