I have no idea why. I don’t think the higher ups at Michigan know why yet.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if that had some small reason for it.
When all that came out, Ono took the gloves off and defended his guys harder than most would. A lot of people who aren’t affiliated with Michigan got very pissed off.
I didn’t even realize he left Michigan. Not that I really care.

I know why, my nephew works with large donors at UF and lets just say an indepth discussion here would get the thread locked quickly.
Large donors from both sides of the political aisle were against him.
Ono seems like a good guy. Im hoping its just a hiccup.
After reading a few articles. I know why Florida rejected him but not quite sure why he left Michigan. He seems a better fit at Michigan. Maybe he got tired of the cold? I wouldn’t blame him if he did.

It seems like he’s caught between a rock and a hard place with this stuff.
From what I’m tracking he was forced out from Michigan because of his effort to eliminate the DEI programs they had due to the federal pressure that could have came from current admin’s directives. And also because he took a stance against the protests that popped up across various campuses, to include UofM, over the Israel / Palestine situation.
So I guess both sides are pissed off at him.
Usually that means that you are doing something right when nobody is happy with the outcome… i mean cant make everyone happy so why not burn it to the ground
