I’d do it. We currently have zero healthy RBs at the moment.
I think Reynolds and Gibbs both practiced today. And Monty is probably only a 2-3 week injury
if we trade Id love to get a CB or DE. I am stoked to get Paschal back though. Assuming he can stay healthy for more than half a game
Funny. I actually just thought about asking if we should trade for Saquon. He’d be a 1 year rental and help us make a playoff push.
They did.
Yep, the pre-game, that’s the half of game ya get and that’s probably about all ya get.
I’d rather have Surtain. Or Crosby. Or Young. Or Hunter. Or Jones.
I get the idea because of Monty being out for say 3 weeks, but what do you do with both Monty and Barkley after the bye? I think a move like this would piss off Monty and not sure Holmes and DC would do something like this.
I would love to have Barkley but not at the expense of fracturing the locker room
But why? Montgomery is only out short term as well as Gibbs. It would be a complete waste.
Focus spending resources on actual needs like CB since the depth beyond the current 2 is awfully thin, an X receiver or DT or edge rusher. I wouldn’t mind an add of a depth RB but that’s as far as I’d go for a RB.
Patrick Surtain makes this team a legitimate Super Bowl contender. He’s young, cheap, and still under control for 2 seasons beyond the current one (assuming you pick up his 5th year option). If the Lions are serious about making a SB run, you can’t have Will Harris being your #3 CB. We’re a Sutton or Jacobs injury away from a total disaster.
I agree but it seems we wouldn’t be the only team interested in him and it seems he has been labeled as “untouchable”
That may be, but there’s a price for literally everything. He’s untouchable… until he’s not.
Well that is my concern, if Dallas is interested I would hate to get in a bidding war
I’d prefer some of the lower cost upgrades. Davenport from the Vikings comes to mind, maybe Murphy. Low cost, rental mercenaries that enhance what is already there. Two upper echelon running backs and a high first round running back just sounds like a recipe for turmoil.
Broncos should trade Surtain. He doesn’t sync up with a rebuild which they reluctantly began
He’s not having the best year according to PFF. (and Broncos fan boards) Grades in the 20’s just above our own JJ
Spoon is balling though. Their third rated CB. Imagine our defense if the Hawks had gone another direction.
Which is why it makes little sense for the Broncos to trade him. The likelihood that two picks in the twenties brings back the same value as Patrick Surtain II is rather finite IMO.
If the Broncos do trade Surtain then that means that franchise is even more rudderless then I had suspected.
It’s not in Holmes’ ethos to trade 1 or 2 firsts for a guy like Surtain. That’s just too much of an investment for one player. Picks and then a top 5 salary? I don’t think so. Not good team building if you ask me.
For guys like Surtain, Brad would draft them, control them for 5 years and give a FA contract to, based on production. That’s the best way to keep this thing sustainable.
But, I could see a trade for a one year guy, even on a super expensive 1yr contract. Then, send him off, get the comp pick, and get another player. But, it’s very unlikely Brad trades for Surtain.
If I’m the Giants, I trade Barkely. He was hurt again. He held out. Yeah, he gone. You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here.
They have to fix the OL and the community college WR room they have.
Now, if Monty was IR-done fornyear? Oh yeah, I trade for him, but not now.
Surtain is staying but there will be CB targets for us. We need one though. It’s thin, Dorsey is just making his way back and he isn’t The Answer anyways.
Villainy is afoot, methinks…
Ok question - what about Derrick Henry? Either Saquon or Henry for half a season? Pair with Monty, Gibbs role doesn’t change.
Thoughts?
