Selection Sunday

To be fair though, our ceiling without Grant is the Sweet 16. I have a really hard time seeing us making it any further without him.

Grant is literally THE reason we beat 1 seed UNC last year.

Well Nate was the last one from the B1G to be correct. No B1G champ since Sparty in 2000.

Maybe he is also known for that about 15 year window where everyone who graduated went to a final 4? That seems nice.

I don’t think this team has a chance to win it all, but I am going to have a great time watching one of the few teams with minimal transfers, and a core of players who just wanted to start and finish at msu. That’s pretty rare these days.

I don’t think it’s a long term strategy anymore, but I am going to enjoy watching the B1G this year.

Umich needs way better guard play to win. Those big transfers are fantastic, but the backcourt for them has been MIA for awhile. If they show up, this team can make a run.

I think Maryland has potential and a solid bracket.

I’d be shocked if UM gets out of the first weekend to be honest.

Very little consistency from them and their guard play leads the way in that category.

UCSD to the moon baby!

I picked Bama to win lol my big upset was Akron upsetting Arizona,Oregon, and then Duke shitting the bed and Akron upsetting them.

Teams that like shooting 3 and love up tempo are upset artists

Or they could be blown out by Arizona

UM lives off of their 1989 championship. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I love the mix of teams in the tournament. There are teams with “1 and done” stars…teams with a group of seniors who know eachother and the gameplan like the back of their hand…and a mix of everything inbetween.

You are probably too young to have been able to watch Kansas beat Memphis in the championship in the mid-2000’s. I remember a few years prior to that win for Kansas, someone rated their recruiting class the #1 in the nation. They explained that while some other teams landed higher rated prospects, the group that Kansas picked was perfectly balanced to win a championship in a few years. The players were good enough to go to the NBA…eventually. But none of them were SO good that they would be 1 and done. The thinking was that the group would be with eachother for at least 3 seasons. So they could mix in some other talented kids that would have multiple seasons with the group as well. It eventually came to fruition, and they beat a Memphis squad that was led by superstar Derrick Rose.

Their Twin Towers will have to be completely lights out for them to advance far in their tournament. I know guard play is key for any team to make an NCAA Tournament run but if I am a Michigan fan I am not that confident in the guard play.

Revisiting:

MSU has been what we thought. Defensively dominant. Offensively bipolar. But they seem to stay close during their cold streaks and then push away during their hot streaks. A FF is definitely within reach, especially if they figure out what happened to Richardson and Fidler goes back to scoring from the high post.

Umich has also been on a hot streak. Guard play has picked up or at least not be a drawback. And Golden remains their most effective player. I thought it would be Wolf, but Golden’s physical brand of ball is what keeps them in games. They have a tough matchup, but Aub is certainly beatable.
