Cade Mays just got Wally Pipped
I believe in Seth McLaughlin.
I’m just glad he’s there, and am more hopeful that he can hold it down til Cade returns than I am w/Scruggs. Hope Juice can prove me wrong if he gets that opportunity.
Well, if it had to happen, this is the right time.
Either, Seth kicks ass, outta the gate, or, Juice takes over in a week.
If Seth looks like he’s getting it, he needs the reps, and, we could just luck out?

Goff said he did great, under the circumstances. Goff had never taken a snap from him before today, though.
I have to wonder if there’s time for him to get acclimated?
In principle, who starts at center is the coaches’ decision. As a practical matter, it’ll be Jared’s - whoever he feels most comfortable with. And my guess is that it’ll be Seth.
If Seth plays even decent, guaranteed super bowl.
Let’s hope so, I guess. He’d have to be pretty dang good for the $25-million-guy not to get his job back.
But the better bet is that Juice Scruggs is the one who’ll have been bypassed. If Seth is a gamer, and our guards stay healthy, by the time Cade returns Juice could be way low on the depth chart.
I think they’re all going to want to see what the young guy can do with some reps. If there is any chance he can be serviceable or better, now is the time to find out.
3 way battle. McLaughlin, Scruggs and Neise. Not loving any of those options tho. Hopefully its just for the first ~4 games, but Oline takes more time to jell together.
Crazy things happen for every team that wins a Super Bowl. We’ve had crappy luck for the last couple years with injuries, and things can turn around quickly. Seth has the smarts to be a center and presumably has gotten stronger. He could easily be better than Glasgow was last year.

Ok, maybe not he same situation, but it’s all the positives I got for this debate.
If he showed he was a capable starter level interior line man - does he or Mayes have what is needed to potentially play Guard? Or are they both strictly centres in the pros?
Mays played guard his first 2 years in the league (and most of college), McLaughlin has only played Center
So in an ideal world, if Seth comes in and becomes our new Ragnow-lite and there isn’t a solid guy entrenched at LG…maybe keep Seth at C and move Mays to LG.
Maybe… From what I recall reading, he wasn’t particularly great as a guard in the NFL… Couple that with Mahogany apparently killing it in training camp, I doubt that’ll happen. Having good depth in the interior is ideal, especially with Mays and Mahogany’s injury history
Mays would be unload-able if the McLaughlin is the man theory came to fruition. A solid Center is a tough position to fill in the NFL. Cade didn’t sign for a crazy amount of money.
If Bradbury is worth 10m per…Cade is worth his contract.
That’d require resigning Seth in the offseason, first things first… If he performs, he may be too expensive… But BEANS if he signs with someone

I hope Seth McLaughlin can push Mays out the door! This is the perfect opportunity to take the bull by the horn and run with it IMO.
