You would think.the clauses in 1st round contracts would all be pretty standard team to team. I’m kinda surprised some teams have these clauses like the Lions… But other teams don’t.
My understanding is that because the Bengals were so cheap. i.e. they only want to guarantee signing bonus, they didn’t want to guarantee multiple years with rolling guarantees, they had to use “language” that was more beneficial for the player (i.e. only voiding the year of the infraction instead of the whole contract).
Detroit seldom had issues with contracts, so I was happy in that regard, it was just unfortunate that we were so incompetent.
Schefter at a minute into this video says its not a normal clause that other teams use. Stewart says he doesn’t want to be “a guinea pig” for it and Schefter says he doesn’t blame him. Again i have no idea who is right on this one but i 100% think the Bengals look bad. And please know that I’m not trying to argue with you on this one just pointing out I’ve been all over the place on this because of so much of the information is conflicting.
Yea, Schefter is contradicting himself from one video to the other. You can definitely understand why the public is confused. McAfee was in the morning, NFL live was at 4pm, I’d assume that someone pointed out the error to Schefter and he explained the situation better on NFL live, which also agrees with what Florio is saying.
You are right, the Bengals definitely look bad, but they are right, they should have better language in their contracts, but this should have been done years ago. And Stewart is right, start next year, not with me.
No worries, it’s good to see where some of the misinformation is coming from.
Not in today’s day and age where every second there is brand new news. The guy could be accused of some heinous crime involving kids, and presto chango, training camp rolls around and we’re all getting excited about the veteran presence he has. It’s how life seems to work now.
Bro, this is not helping your argument…

Gatorade Clause: Know that sitting in brown-colored Gatorade is a natural hazard of playing NFL football. Should you sit in brown-colored Gatorade during your employment with the NFL and its affiliated teams, the NFL and its affiliated league, teams, partners, agents, and patrons shall hold no legal accountability if it is deemed by any interested parties that you “might have crapped your pants.”
Isn’t brown gatrorade just Pepsi in a different container? ![]()

At what point do we kick the tires here? It sounds like @deadstroke was (unsurprisingly) correct and the dispute isn’t about injury guarantees but instead the Bengals trying to have voids of guarantee in the event of suspension. That is rumored to include suspension due to on field transgressions.
He is supposedly considering going back to A&M and training all year for the 2026 draft. If that were to happen the Bengals get nothing. Could we get him for a 2026 2nd and a Josh Paschal level DE. They need something at that position. They have Ossai, Myles Murphy and I would assume Trey but we shall see on the latter. Ossai has been okay. I believe that Murphy has been pretty bad IIRC. Thoughts on this situation?
Hope they stay cheap and we steal Trey
They can do that? I did not know that.
He is ineligible to play but can go back to class.
Yes, if Stewart doesn’t sign he is not elligible to play but he can train with the team and then re-enter the draft for 2026.
I’m surprised one of Millen’s draft picks didn’t do that. Lol
We drafted BMW after doing so. Although he lost a lawsuit rather than declaring and being drafted. He also trained for The Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest rather than football.
Fattest WR ever!
Dan Skipper?
Him and Maurice Clarett, who also was in the same Hot Dog eating contest.
Which is another term for Bored Dough.
Dude is f ucking idiot. Will star dumb and dumber 3.
