I was in a restaurant the other day with some customers, none of whom were baseball fans. Shohei Ohtani was being shown on one of the TVs. Yes, it was a high class place. I tried to explain the guy to them. I don’t think it really sunk in what a monster he is. There’s nothing he can’t do at the highest level. Dominant pitcher. Dominant bat. Dominant bass (yes, this is a typo that I decided to leave because I’m sure he’s a dominant bass player too) runner. I can’t really speak to his fielding as I haven’t seen enough of him, but I’m sure he’s dominant there too. He’s my daddy.
First player in mlb history to have 50 steals and 50 home runs in the same season. Improves on that by hitting three home runs with another steal, and knocked in 10 runs in the same ■■■■■■■ game. He’s Barry Sanders on crack, bath salts, and crystal meth all at the same time.
This guy is pretty good. I can remember when the 20/20 club was pretty darn prestigious, the upper crust, so to speak. But wow!
On top of the monumental game tonight, he would have hit for the cycle in his first four at bats if not for a great throw and relay from the wall in left-center field.
He might throw a no hitter AND hit for the cycle in the same game. Just incredible.
Been piling up his rookie stuff for years. Latest, thought it would get a 10, but still nice. Getting a rookie auto still a ways away, need to keep churning $250-300 cards like this for another year.
it’s crazy watching potentially one of the best players in history play. I do wish ichiro had come over when he was younger, he probably would’ve had the mlb hit record.
Different eras so it’s extremely difficult to compare. But if I’m a GM with the #1OA pick and Ruth and Ohtani are both available, I’m going with Ohtani.
